Idyllic Prince Stakes 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Idyllic Prince Stakes
Race 1. (14:38) Free Entry To Belmont (Rs0ly) 1200m
This looks a solid 0MW race. 9 Western Knight (Bet Now: $2.70) does look the most progressive though. Resumed in a 985m maiden at Northam and produced really good change up speed from off the speed to win and win impressively. Think the rise to 1200m is ideal, he’s got good upside and will be strong late.
7 Dais (Bet Now: $4.50) had been clearly knocking on the door to win and that finally came last Wednesday here, where she looked a good thing on paper and aided by a peach from Taj Dyson, she was much too good for them. Harder here I feel, but now she has that winning feeling, she can go on with it.
4 Divine Pair (Bet Now: $5.00) doesn’t have the greatest of winning strike rates, but he’s come back really well this time in without winning. He has finished runner up in all three runs this time in, the latest at Northam over 1100m when beaten a lip by Short Talk. He commands respect in a winnable race.
Race 2. (15:18) Crown Towers Plate 1200m
Hard to get away from 4 Baby Paris (Bet Now: $1.75). There was a lot of quality about her first up win here two weeks ago where she was backed with confidence and duly saluted, bolting up in an impressive return. 1200m should be fine, she has class and under the weight conditions, she is just so well in.
1 Saintorio (Bet Now: $14.00) is a handy three year old for Stephen Miller that resumes. He was looking on track for the Karrakatta in the Autumn but after a poor run in the Perth Stakes, he was spelled soon after. Two trials to get ready have been quite strong and does have class as well.
8 Saloon Bar (Bet Now: $3.90) is a son of Sessions for Dan Morton that is on debut and I think can run a positive race. He has had two trials this time in to get ready for start one, placing each time and going about his business nicely. I doubt he beats Baby Paris, but could pinch a first four spot.
Race 3. (15:58) Tabtouch-Wspeed Platinum-Rs0ly 1600m
1 Arnie’s Boy (Bet Now: $8.00) can bounce back into the winners list. Ashley Maley trained gelding that ran over 1400m here two weeks ago where he was back near last in the run and never really a factor but liked the way he finished his race off. Back on firmer footing and gets P Harvey aboard, he’ll do me.
4 Zero Consquence (Bet Now: $4.20) is a horse with talent for Adam Durrant. He ran over this track/distance last Wednesday where he got back to near last in the run and worked home okay without threatening behind Mong Khon. Back on a dry-ish track, I am expecting improvement.
3 Sessions Peak (Bet Now: $7.50) is a definite winning chance. Impressive win two back before a plain effort last time behind Canny Jack where he really struggled on the bog. He’ll appreciate a firmer deck and off the win two back, he has to be respected in a race like this.
Race 4. (16:34) Morley Growers Market (Bm72+) 1600m
Third up from a spell, I am in the corner of 4 Buster Bash (Bet Now: $3.10). Was with him two weeks ago when he raced at this track/distance and he looked a winner when he kept finding but was only nabbed late by Multinational. He’s hard fit now and on a firmer deck, I am clearly in his corner.
6 Westriver Miracle (Bet Now: $2.90) has come back in outstanding order for Team Pearce. Loved the way he knuckled down to win two back at Northam before going here three weeks back where he had an epic battle with No Apology and just got the better of him. Has to be respected against this lot given how well he’s going.
3 Blinder (Bet Now: $8.50) is on the seven day back up for Neville Parnham, having raced last Saturday here where he was just off the speed and battled away okay in defeat behind Zero Demerits. His best is clearly good enough, but he is a horse who can be quite hard to trust.
Race 5. (17:10) Amelia Park (Rs1mw) 2200m
5 Overthought (Bet Now: $6.00) is knocking on the door to win one and I think a drying track is perfect for her. Has raced on testing ground her past few, the latest being two weeks ago and she tried her guts out but had to settle for a second to Alimentaria. Racing well without winning. Hoping that can change here.
2 Alimentaria (Bet Now: $3.90) handles all conditions but clearly likes wet ground so a firmer deck could mean the rest of them come back to her. That said, she is flying this time in, winning two of her past three, the latest being a fortnight back when leading throughout, getting absolute control and giving nothing else a look in. Commands respect.
3 Alterno (Bet Now: $26.00) will appreciate a firmer track. He ran tailed off last behind Alimentaria two weeks back here and just couldn’t pick his feet up on the absolute bog in a clear forgive. He’s been waiting for better conditions and he should get that here, so I am not penning him.
Race 6. (17:45) Reliable Asset Maint. (Rs1mw) 1400m
6 Gold Merits (Bet Now: $5.50) should love getting to a firmer deck. Jim Taylor trained mare that ran over this track/distance two weeks ago and was good from off the speed in atrocious conditions when fourth to Currimundi. Good track/distance record and back on firmer footing, I am expecting good improvement.
1 Ginger Baker (Bet Now: $2.70) looks to be in for a god prep. He resumed behind Currimundi a fortnight back and kept finding on a testing track, just missing out on the win when a narrow second. Good second up record and I think a dry track, firmer anyway, will be right up his alley.
7 My Fair Balentine (Bet Now: $21.00) is a staying mare that resumes but can pull out a decent run fresh. She hasn’t raced since Jan 30 at Pinjarra when well backed at a price but failed to fire and was on the plain side. Two trials to get ready and overall, this isn’t a strong race.
Race 7. (18:20) Noranda City F.C. (Bm66+) 1000m
Playing a straight bat with 1 Beads (Bet Now: $6.50). Son of Star Turn for Steve Wolfe that comes here several weeks between runs, his last run being July 16 here when a close up third to Capital Flight. He handles all conditions but is clearly better on top of the ground. If that can eventuate here, I think he’ll only run well.
2 Ghost Who Walks (Bet Now: $11.00) is an absolute beauty for Neville Parnham. Loved the way he found the line to win two weeks ago here, knuckling down strongly from the back to wear them down and then draw clear at the end. He’s becoming a decent Saturday class horse and is very genuine.
10 Strathmore Rose (Bet Now: $14.00) is a knockout chance. Comes back to 1000m after racing over 1200m here two weeks back where she was near the speed throughout and battled away really well when third to River Rubicon. Yet to really prove herself in town, but good set up here and gets an ideal map.
Race 8. (18:55) Idyllic Prince Stakes 1300m
11 Staralign (Bet Now: $11.00) is likely gearing up for the Hannans at Kalgoorlie, but I think he’s certainly good enough to take this out. Looked like he would need the run when resuming in the Belmont Newmarket two weeks ago and he actually didn’t find the line too bad in defeat behind noted swimmer Nerodio. Fab second up record and with CJP sticking on a firmer track, I think he’s worth an each way ticket.
1300m is the query with 5 Nerodio (Bet Now: $2.05) but it’s hard to knock how well he is racing this time in. He lapped up the mud to win the Newmarket a fortnight back, finishing best in horrendous conditions. He handles dry ground as well quite nicely, and is suited at WFA. Has to be respected.
10 Yeah Dardy (Bet Now: $34.00) is a very interesting runner. Quality gelding that resumes after a two run Autumn prep, where he failed to fire a shot on each occasion. Been given a break and the two trials to get ready have been quite sharp, so I am keen to see how he resumes because his best is clearly good enough.
Race 9. (19:25) Furphy (Bm66+) 1300m
9 Hibiscus Lady (Bet Now: $6.50) is seemingly loving life in WA for Nakita Barber. Three weeks between runs since sititng on a moderate speed before being clicked up at the top of the straight and producing good change up speed to win impressively. Commands respect, especially with her racing style.
5 Vane Tempest (Bet Now: $5.00) is a key threat. Ran over 1400m here last Satruday when attempting to lead throughout and gave a solid enough kick when a close up fourth to Zero Demerits. Back to 1300m I like, should map ideally and gets CJP aboard, so does tick a few boxes.
3 Kia Ora Star (Bet Now: $19.00) can be a big improver on firmer footing. Both runs this time in have come on quite testing ground and he’s failed to fire each time, but should be forgiven. Gets a much better set up this time around and at his best, he can certainly beat this lot.
