SA metro racing this Saturday heads to Murray Bridge. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out six metres from the 800m-Winning Post; True for the remainder.
Race 1. (12:01) Lake Breeze Wines Mdn Plate 1000m
Have to take the lead that the Clarken stable scratched from 2 Noname Lane (Bet Now: $2.30) from a weak maiden on Wednesday to be saved for this. This four year old resumes, having already placed in four of his five career outings. Has trialled up really well in readiness for his return and drawing wide I don’t see as a negative.
4 Yowza (Bet Now: $4.40) looks ready to win. First run for the new stable came three weeks ago on the Parks track when run off his legs early but picked up and chased strongly, just missing out on picking up Royal Obsession. That form clearly reads well for a race of this quality and depth.
9 Samurai Sun (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Savabeel filly for Will Clarken that is on debut. This girl has had a couple of trials to get ready for start one and each time she has looked pretty solid, going about her business nicely, which is the norm with this camp when they are unraced. Keen to see what the market does.
Race 2. (12:36) Adelaide Event Catering 2yo 1200m
2 Brazen Boy (Bet Now: $3.70) was a speedy squib once upon a time. But you listen to the stable and notably last start post race with Kayla Crowther, she said the horse was doing everything wrong re breathing, which would explain why he would go so quick for 600m of a race and then fold up. Now, he seems to be more relaxed in the run and is attacking the line, so off his last start win here, albeit over 900m, I think 1200m will be okay.
5 Roxy Blue (Bet Now: $2.30) is a Travis Doudle trained filly that resumes. This girl has done little wrong in her career to date, the latest run coming during the Adelaide Carnival when second to a potential Guineas horse in Seradess. That form does read quite well and strikes a winnable race.
11 Witness Greatness (Bet Now: $26.00) is still a maiden after seven starts but she is a filly who has shown talent since day one. Ran over 1400m here just under three weeks ago and was solid without jumping up and down about the run behind Star Lyric. Back to 1200m is a positive and she’s a first four contender.
Race 3. (13:11) Beyond Ink (bm78) 1200m
5 Pindaric (Bet Now: $2.25) looks a quality galloper for Michael Hickmott and I think he can resume a winner and remain unbeaten. Hasn’t raced since Feb 6 when an impressive winner at Morphettville in a race that has produced five subsequent winners, so the form around him is strong and trained on the track with eyes on the premiership, he should be around the mark fitness wise.
1 Street Tough (Bet Now: $3.50) has a bit of weight to carry but to counter that, he does have a bit of class on his side compared to most of these. First for Will Clarken came two weeks ago here when near the speed and he fought on strongly, just missing out on the win when second to Too Good Too Hard. Fitter, he’ll take beating.
10 Miss Jane (Bet Now: $12.00) has a good third up record and that is her saving grace leading into this because her two runs back have been somewhat plain, the latest being here behind Too Good Too Hard, but that run, I just think she was ridden too warm. More conservative steer, she can be dangerous.
Race 4. (13:46) Dutton's Easy To Do Bus. With 1200m
1 Struck By (Bet Now: $2.30) is the class runner of the field and that will carry him a long way towards victory here. Travis Doudle trained three year old that resumes and is a Stakes winner from the Adelaide Carnival, so he has a bit on these re class, he has an ideal racing pattern and should have residual fitness. If the market likes him, back him with confidence.
3 Zoushine (Bet Now: $3.10) is a Team McEvoy three year old that resumes and given the stable is now in the premiership race, I would suggest this girl is wound up to fire early. Has runs on the board from a successful Melbourne prep where she measured up at metro level, so this is a winnable race for her and she has jumped out well to get ready.
8 Ultimate Victory (Bet Now: $12.00) is third up here and should just about be at peak fitness. Peter Blanch trained three year old that ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and was good late from off the speed behind Great Diviner. If he can sit closer in the run, he’ll take beating.
Race 5. (14:26) Bremerton Wines (bm60) 1600m
I’ll take a chance with 9 She’s A Karaka (Bet Now: $4.80), a former Maher/Eustace runner that is having start one for David Jolly. Last raced on June 16 at Sandown when back and working to the line nicely behind Leale. Form around her, overall, does read very well for what looks a moderate 60 here, and drawn out, should get three wide cover and be strong late.
10 Sky Hero (Bet Now: $8.00) is on the seven day back up for Will Clarken after racing over 1500m at Morphettville last Saturday. He just lost sight of the bunny, getting a mile out of his ground, but loved the way he finished his race off when fourth to Jaamint. Fitter, up to the mile, he appeals.
5 Allacciato (Bet Now: $13.00) is an interesting runner. Michael Hickmott trained mare that ran over 1550m three weeks ago on the Parks track. Never really a winning threat, but I liked the way she finished her race off, albeit beaten a long way. Got more upside than most and is in the leading camp.
Race 6. (15:06) Kimbolton Wines (bm64) 1000m
2 He’s A Balter (Bet Now: $5.00) looks really hard to beat here. Will Clarken trained galloper that contested a pretty strong 76 on the Parks track a few weeks ago and worked home strongly late when fourth to impressive winner Larimer Street. Back to this level, bigger track, he’ll get three wide cover and launch late.
6 Harpuna (Bet Now: $4.80) has only won the one race from seven career outings, but he has placed on a further four occasions and has shown enough to suggest he is city class in this part of the world. Resumes here, with his last run coming back in December when third at Gawler to a decent horse in Munster. Both fresh runs prior were super so banking on him being right for his return.
10 Jungle Sensation (Bet Now: $8.50) is an interesting runner. On the quick back up after racing over 1200m last Saturday at Caulfield where she was never really a winning factor behind Hai Sun after getting a fair way back in the run. Prior effort at Mornington was more than sound for a race like this.
Race 7. (15:41) Happy 16th Birthday Jazz-bm64 1400m
8 Motell (Bet Now: $8.00) hasn’t missed a place in three runs at the track so combine that with the fact he’s fitter and stepping up to a more suitable trip, he appeals big time. Caught the eye when resuming over 1200m here a fortnight back, closing off with purpose behind Great Diviner. Hard to beat in a race like this.
Fresh is best for 4 Sebonna (Bet Now: $20.00) and he does look a talented type for Peter Hardacre. He resumes, having not raced since January 27 when first up and winning over 1550m at Bordertown. Two of his four wins have come fresh and though I can’t find a recent jumpout for him, the stable do generally have them forward in condition.
12 Melody Man (Bet Now: $2.80) is a Jake Stephens trained gelding that is racing well at the moment. Resumed over 1400m here two weeks back and I loved the way he closed off from off the speed when second to impressive winner Zoist. Does he need one more? Perhaps, but he’s got more upside than most.
Race 8. (16:16) Gipsie Jack Wines (bm72) 1800m
12 Stan The Caddy (Bet Now: $6.00) might need one more but I just have to be with him. Will Clarken trained gelding that was big odds when racing over the mile here two weeks ago but despite having no friends in the market, he ran a super race I thought when third to Scottish Dancer. The mile is nowhere near his best trip. 1800m is getting warmer, so I say perhaps one more, but I just think he has returned well enough to overcome that.
2 Jaguary (Bet Now: $3.10) is a Travis Doudle trained gelding that is getting back to somewhere near his best form from 2019 where he was measuring up at metro level in Melbourne. Wheels had fallen off post that but this prep, he looks to be back. Couple of strong wins on the bounce and 1800m does look a suitable step up.
Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks for 11 Love ‘N’ Peace (Bet Now: $5.50). Team McEvoy four year old that resumed over the mile at Sandown in what was pretty much a sit/sprint. Given he was back near the rear, he pretty much had no chance, so want to be forgiving of that and actually, he wasn’t too bad. Like him here and got upside, more than most.
Race 9. (16:55) Bleasdale Wines (bm60) 1200m
13 Bleriot (Bet Now: $2.10) picks herself here. Will Clarken trained filly that spanked them at this track/distance two weeks ago. Lobbed into a lovely spot behind the speed before Pannell eased her to clear air and away she went. She gapped them. Them being an ordinary bunch, but she did it with ease, so think she’s the one to beat.
2 Munster (Bet Now: $5.50) should prove hard to beat in the get out. He ran over 1200m here a few weeks ago and though held by Great Diviner, he didn’t stop chasing and was good to the line and through it in running second. He’ll come on from that and finds a very winnable race.
11 Equal Balance (Bet Now: $34.00) is racing well without winning for Dennis O’Leary. Latest run came on the dirt at Port Augusta where he was back off the speed and chased strongly when fourth to Domination. Last time he won, Moses was parting the sea, but he’s racing well and overall, this race is thin.
