Tattersall’s Members Cup 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Tattersall’s Members Cup
Race 1. (11:48) Functions At Tattersall's-Bm70 1630m
1 Altar Boy (Bet Now: $6.00) creates interest. Formerly with Sarah Acornley but is now with Stuart Kendrick because his rating in North Queensland is too high. He now comes to town and I think he has found a very winnable city race to kick off his career under Kendrick. Hard to beat, especially with a rise to the mile.
2 Lammer (Bet Now: $1.75) should be fine at the mile. He broke the maiden in style last time at the Gold Coast, giving them a spanking after settling off the speed. He lapped up the mud and was far too good. This race is very much on the thin side, so despite coming out of a maiden, he’s one of the leading chances.
4 Money Man (Bet Now: $5.00) has placed in all three career outings for Stuart Kendrick. Latest came last Friday at the Gold Coast when just off the speed and worked to the line pretty well despite having his chance when third. Thje query is the 1600m, but the small field and likely crawling tempo helps offset that.
Race 2. (12:23) Events At Tattersall's (Bm72) 1050m
1 Steady Ready (Bet Now: $1.60) is a Team Sears colt that resumes. He did a good job in his opening prep, running twice. Gave them a spanking at this track/distance on debut before going to Eagle Farm when running second to Exo Lady, a Stakes class juvenile. Assume he’s had a jumpout or two at Toowoomba to get ready, so watch the market.
5 Kobe Lad (Bet Now: $7.00) should take beating here for Tony Gollan. Broke the maiden status in style at the Gold Coast last time, getting the suck run behind the speed before angling into clear air and letting down with purpose to win impressively. Off that effort, I think he can measure up in town.
The last 100m or so will test with 3 Flaming Conquest (Bet Now: $4.60) but I am sure he’ll give a bold sight from on speed. He did that three weeks back at Eagle Farm, producing sustained speed from the front in a dominant display. His racing pattern is suited for here. He’ll give you a great sight.
Race 3. (12:58) Weddings At Tattersall's-Bm78 1110m
8 Fetch (Bet Now: $4.20) has a tricky gate to overcome but is racing well for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. She made a mess of them at Eagle Farm last time, beating up an average lot, but did it nicely and ran good time. If she gets luck from the gate, she’ll take beating against this lot.
3 Proper Rogue (Bet Now: $6.00) is a swimmer so with decent rain on the cards, he commands respect. Just got a bit too far back four weeks ago here and worked home okay without threatening behind Kavak. He is a short course horse so he is suited here and he loves getting his toe in.
9 He’s The News (Bet Now: $13.00) is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he had the suck run behind the speed and battled on pretty well behind the in form Kavak. Form prior was quite sound and from the inside gate, he is in with a shout at odds.
Race 4. (13:33) Jim Mcgowan (Bm85) 1050m
There looks to be really good speed engaged here, so want to be on something who will sit off it and be strong late, and 1 Bold Style (Bet Now: $16.00) will be that. He resumes for Garnett Taylor, having not raced since the Mackay Lightning when a game second to a quality sprinter in that part of the world, Ahooshu. Couple of trials to get ready after residual fitness, I think he’s wound up to run a positive race.
Forgiving 3 Osamu (Bet Now: $2.30) for one average performance. He saves his best for the short course, bolting up fresh at that set up. Had the same set up a few weeks ago where he led but he copped midrace heat and he punctured late in a plain effort. If he gets back to his first up form, he can bounce back.
4 Mort Doyle (Bet Now: $13.00) will jump on the bunny and run a bold race. Impressive win at the Gold Coast last time where he led throughout and he gave a solid kick from the front, there to be run down, but found plenty to fend them off. last bit will test, but he’ll run a bold race.
Race 5. (14:08) Tattersall's Arcade Plate (C3) 1630m
4 Loveplanet (Bet Now: $6.00) deserves another look. He ran three weeks back at Rosehill and was a total forgive after sitting wide no cover for the trip, a horrible spot to be for the meeting. The run prior behind Yukon was sound at Randwick, and he is a horse who is Saturday class when right.
3 Jack The Lad (Bet Now: $7.50) has been a bit costly this time in for Chris Waller but his best is certainly capable of taking out this race. He ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where he was near last in the run and tried to come around them and make a sustained run, but he tired late and died on the run. Can win with the right trip.
8 Red Wave (Bet Now: $4.80) deserves another chance. He resumed at the midweeks at Ipswich over 1350m where I am not sure he was entirely suited on the tight track fresh but he was solid enough when fourth. Fitter and up to the mile on the bigger track, I am expecting improvement.
Race 6. (14:47) Tattersall's Life Members-Bm80 2030m
10 Otyrar (Bet Now: $4.60) is hard to beat. Chris Waller trained import who is seemingly enjoying life in Australia, Queensland anyway. He should have won two weeks ago here but just got too far back and just couldn’t really get a chance to build proper momentum, driving hard to finish third. If he’s within range on the turn, he’ll take beating.
8 Za Ceibas (Bet Now: $5.00) is hit and miss but his best is good enough to be dangerous. He ran in the Brown Thomas race from two weeks back when doing work near the speed and the early burn just told late. I think with a more conservative steer, you’ll see a much better performance.
4 Stubai (Bet Now: $10.00) is suited back to 2000m I feel. He was near the speed in the Brown Thomas race from two weeks back here and battled on pretty well in defeat to finish a close up fourth. Gets good weight relief after the claim and overall, this isn’t an overly strong race.
Race 7. (15:27) The Conservatory Hcp (C6) 1630m
5 Jakama (Bet Now: $2.90) is a model of consistency for John Dann that is always around the mark in these kind of races. That was the case a fortnight back here behind Sneak Preview. He had a charmed run in transit and loomed to win. Didn’t, but battled on really well. He’ll go close again.
4 Jetty (Bet Now: $4.40) commands some level of respect. Dominant win two back at the Sunny Coast before racing at Eagle Farm three weeks back where he was thrown in the deep end and ran really well behind Tokoriki Lad. Off the last start effort, I think he’s in with a shout here.
2 Slow Hands (Bet Now: $5.50) is getting towards peak fitness and can be an improver at odds. Ran two weeks back here behind Sneak Preview where he didn’t quite get the rub of the green in the straight but that said, he didn’t exactly savage the line. He’s a wet tracker, so he gets conditions to suit…I am not penning him.
Race 8. (16:07) Tatt's Member's Cup 1350m
Think this is superb placement by Joe Pride with 6 Snippy Fox (Bet Now: $4.40), who finds a likely heavy track, based on the forecast later in the week, and she is a swimmer. Hasn’t raced since the Winter Challenge where she found 1500m a bridge too far behind a nice horse in Cross Talk. Tick over trial last week was a good piece of work and with conditions to suit, I am with her.
5 Sir Rocket (Bet Now: $3.00) has found that winning feeling again and he can certainly go on with it. Somewhat slaughtered two back behind Snowzone before going to the 1350m a fortnight back where he was ridden with intent and the end result was a dominant win. Hard to beat once again.
3 Hasabro (Bet Now: $7.50) is a very interesting runner. Former Kiwi that is having his first run for Annabel Neasham. His NZ form reads well enough for this, even though 1350m is short of his best trip, but his two trials leading in have beeb strong and stable is flying, so watch the market.
Race 9. (16:43) Des Lambart Memorial (Bm80) 1350m
12 Enterprise Mia (Bet Now: $1.60) is flying for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp and is hard to beat. Got complete control at this track/distance a few weeks ago and she gave them a spanking from the front under a peach steer from Collett. Good test here, but confident she can measure up.
9 Big Bad Bruce (Bet Now: $6.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. Both runs have come over 1200m here, the latest behing Bonaparte when close up. He is bred to swim so if the rain comes, and the inside holds up okay, he’s a knockout chance, albeit he needs to improve big time to beat the fav.
4 Guy Dragon (Bet Now: $21.00) is an improver. He was kept quite safe in betting when resuming in the Murwillumbah Newmarket but he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out. Had trialled up really well prior, so I think he deserves another chance.
