30/1/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Scenic Blast Stakes day

Eight races have been set down for Ascot this Saturday where it is Scenic Blast Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

1300m back to 1200m I don’t like for 4 Sichern (Bet Now: $2.60), but he does look the most progressive of this lot. Debuted at Pinjarra when back near last in the run and I loved the way he closed off late in an excellent effort. Back in trip is a negative but has more upside than most.

9 Molly Magee (Bet Now: $5.00) should be suited up to 1200m. Gary Crispin trained mare that ran over 1100m here last time out and looked home when she was presented. Just couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for second. Third up, hard fit now, leading contender.

3 Belafonte Boy (Bet Now: $11.00) can add some value to multiples. He was 1400m back to 1100m here two weeks ago where he got back off the speed and was never really a winning threat but did make up ground late. Now back up in trip, he can sneak a first four spot.

8 Amelia’s Chant (Bet Now: $2.60) deserves another chance. Simon Miller trained filly that was heavily supported when debuting here two weeks ago. Led and looked to travel well but she got the staggers late and couldn’t pick her feet up. Think with the run under the belt, she will be better off.

5 Talkaboutyou (Bet Now: $3.70) is a Martin Allan trained colt that is on debut. He comes here off the back of a sharp trial win over 1000m at Belmont where he ran good time relative to the meeting. Tricky draw, but Parnham rides and has early toe to potentially take care of the gate and run a bold race.

2 Mega Reward (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have some level of decent ability. Debuted at this track/distance two weeks ago where he was somewhat run off his legs early but picked up and was solid enough late when fourth to Toppa The Mountain. If he can hold up from the inside gate, he’ll be a threat at odds.

Good test here for 7 In The Boat (Bet Now: $4.00), but he does look a likely prospect. Been kept somewhat on ice since bolting up on debut at Bunbury, leading throughout and looking quite smart. Draws wide, but has early toe, so think he can get across and gets Paul Harvey to steer.

8 Devine Beast (Bet Now: $5.50) should love a fast run 1100m. Ran over 1200m here last time out when getting a suck run behind the speed and chasing strongly, but had no answers late for a class filly in Magical Dream. She will sit off the fast speed and launch at these late.

5 I’m Eugene (Bet Now: $71.00) looks to have his share of talent for Richard Williams and has the right racing pattern to run a cheeky race at odds. Led throughout and was too good last start in breaking the maiden tag. He will hold a forward spot from the inside gate and look the winner for a long way.

6 Last Of The Line (Bet Now: $1.90) picks himself here. Looked a good thing on paper when racing here two weeks ago and once he got outside the leader in a slowly run race, it was race over and he was far too good. Don’t see this racing being any harder and with upside to come, think he’s a near good thing,

2 Red Publisher (Bet Now: $5.00) is on the seven day back up for Ashley Maley after racing last Saturday in the Australia Day Trophy over 1500m here and I think with a clear path in the straight, he goes close to winning instead of a close up fourth to She’s Alright. Better suited here and is hard to beat.

7 Beaucount (Bet Now: $31.00) is better suited over further, but he can pull out a decent run fresh. Brad Graham trains this middle distance galloper, who hasn’t raced since November 18 over 2200m here when down the track behind Secret Pearl. Not sure I could back him to win, but is one for multiples I’d suggest.

13 What About Moi (Bet Now: $7.00) finds a very winnable metro race here. Lightly raced that has had four career outings, and his two best efforts have come when ridden cold, including his maiden last start. This race has little to no depth and with Brad Parnham steering, he’ll do me against this lot.

8 Bentley’s Brother (Bet Now: $23.00) is flying for Helen Harding and though untried at metro level, the way he is racing, he deserves a crack. Attacked the line with real purpose to win over 1900m at Albany last time out under Whiting, who remains on for this race. Back to the mile is a query, but he’ll be strong at the end.

1 Recapitulate (Bet Now: $11.00) tends to save his best for the Provincials but he is a horse who is in winning form and has the right racing pattern. He led throughout at Esperance Bay last start under a lovely front running ride from Faithfull. Gets the claim here and if he can get a cheap time of it on speed, he could sneak a first four spot.

Fitter and up to 1200m looks a big tick for 7 Prince Devoutly (Bet Now: $3.60), who has the Williams/Pike factor. Resumed over 1000m here two weeks ago and worked home strongly from near last behind Time To Sizzle in an excellent effort and great return. This looks a good set up for him with natural improvement and is one of the better bets on the card.

1 Excellent Dream (Bet Now: $7.00) is putting together a decent record for Lindsey Smith. Resumed with a narrow second here behind Leica Jaguar before stepping up to 1200m when leading throughout and despite getting the staggers late, he clung on. Harder here, but getting towards hard race fitness and has the right racing pattern.

4 Double The Pro (Bet Now: $26.00) has a good second up record and I think can be a big improver here at odds. Resumed over this track/distance three weeks ago behind Excellent Dream in the race mentioned above when far from disgraced in defeat after getting a fair way back in the run. Knockout chance.

Going to speck 11 Mervyn (Bet Now: $9.50) at a price. Resumed two weeks ago in the Miss Andretti where he led at a pretty solid tempo and looked the winner for a few strides, but felt the pinch late. He will improve big time off that and should be stringer at the end. Can he hold on?

Class will carry 1 Flirtini (Bet Now: $2.70) a long way. The set up for her in the Miss Andretti was perfect, sitting back off a fast speed before getting to the outside and under Pike, she finished right over the top. Has to carry the weight, but has class and will be charging at them late.

Back up in trip for 3 Carocapo (Bet Now: $5.50) looks ideal. Couple of string wins at this track/distance before coming back in trip. Latest run in the Miss Andretti was when near the speed and fighting on well. Gets to a more suitable trip now and is hard to beat against this lot.

7 Amelia’s Contraire (Bet Now: $3.50) looks one of the hardest to beat. Resumed in the Time To Sizzle race from a fortnight back here and you could make a good case to say that she should have won. Got badly held up at a vital stage and just missed when fourth. Better luck this time around and think she can win.

2 Time To Sizzle (Bet Now: $4.50) is putting together a very good record. Has won five of ten, the latest seeing her win at this track/distance two weeks ago when leading throughout in what was a strong showing of sustained speed from the front. Harder here, but gets the claim again and draws well.

5 Ladies Of London (Bet Now: $10.00) will need luck from the wide gate but she is a mare in form and does get Pike steering. Sat on speed at Bunbury last time and was getting tired late, but found enough under Rawiller to win. If she can get on speed without doing too much work, she’ll take some beating.
