Doomben will once again host a strong eight race card this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out 3.5 metres for the entire circuit.

Race One: Tiland Constructions PTY LTD Handicap (0MW) 2200m:
Back Me: Looks a good race for Space Invader (Best Odds: $7.00). He was specked at odds last time out over this track/distance and for a few strides in the straight he looked hte winner, but he couldn’t hold out the brilliant finishing burst of Rock The Pac. He has been up for a long time, but is still seemingly enjoying his racing at the moment.
Big Danger: Allzin (Best Odds: $6.50) performed very well at Caulfield in the Inglis Cup (2000m) behind Group l performer Firehouse Rock before coming to Queensland and going to the Gold Coast a couple of weeks back where he did a power of work yet was only beaten in the last hop. He will have no issue running the trip out and gets weight relief.
Roughie: The race is a bit thin depth wise, so I’ll put in Outstrip (Best Odds: $7.00). I was keen on him in the Rock The Pac race, and he looked the winner on the turn, but he simply didn’t finish it off. Two wins from 36 starts says it all really, but he does travel very well in his races, and he does have a strong record at the distance

Race Two: TH Cock Electrical & Communication Handicap 1050m:
Back Me: Happy Event (Best Odds: $2.00) was unwanted on debut three weeks back but he ran very well when second to Criquette, who has been one of the better youngsters Brisbane has produced this season. Draws well, weight relief after the claim and has race experience.
Big Danger: Fallen For You (Best Odds: $6.00) is a nippy customer who has run well in both career runs to date, each resulting in second placings. With the scratchings he should get over without too much trouble and he has the hard racing under the belt.
Roughie: Candika (Best Odds: $11.00) is a Proven Thoroughbreds first starter trained by Steve O’Dea. Has only had one trial, on October 20 at Deagon. Ran third in the trial and looked to have a pretty good action. This stable always fires with first starters, so watch market moves.

Race Three: Mount Alvernia College Handicap 1615m:
Back Me: Beatniks (Best Odds: $3.50) for me here. She was excellent over this track/distance a couple of weeks back when making up solid ground late from the back to run third to Casarati on a day where it was near impossible to make up ground. Remains at the distance, and with a more fair racing surface, she will take some beating.
Big Danger: Teronado (Best Odds: $3.00) comes back home to Brisbane after two runs in Sydney. The first one saw him close off really well behind Cox Plate winner Winx in the Epsom before not being suited by a slow tempo behind Good Project after being well backed in betting. He has a great record at Doomben and this is a very winnable race.
Roughie: Grayson Square (Best Odds: $8.00) was solidly backed in betting last time out over 1350m here but he just didn’t quite have the turn of foot when running third to impressive winner Lordag. Third up at the mile is perfect and he does have a very strong record at this track/distance, plus he has more upside than most engaged here.

Race Four: Aitkenvale Family Health Centre Handicap 1110m:
Back Me: The speed map says that they will fly here, so it should suit Architect (Best Odds: $3.00). He has been racing in very consistent fashion of late, the latest when closing off strongly late to run second to speedster Hidden Pearl, who had an 8kg swing in the weights. He should turn the tables on that mare here, and that is the main form reference for this.
Big Danger: Didntcostalot (Best Odds: $3.80) strung together a couple of impressive wins before racing over 1200m here on September 26 where he copped a bit too much pressure in front and tired late to run fourth to Riva De Lago. Should hold out Adebisi here and he has the race fitness.
Roughie: Saluter (Best Odds: $13.00) finished a bad last in that race Riva De Lago saluted in. Was sent back to the trials and looked very sharp in winning a Deagon barrier trial. He can be hard to follow, but at his best, he can be a knockout chance.

Race Five: Weareco Handicap 1350m:
Back Me: Going with Shipwrecked (Best Odds: $11.00). He trialled really well at Deagon prior to resuming at the Gold Coast where he sat three wide no cover on speed for the entire trip yet ambled to the front at the top of the straight and held on for a gritty win. Steps straight up to city grade, which isn’t easy, but enormous upside and there was plenty to like about the first up win.
Big Danger: Dandy One (Best Odds: $5.50) is racing so well at the moment for Les Ross. The son of Red Element stuck to the task gamely last start when running third to the above average Dee Nine Elle. Bred to get through the wet track and draws well with a claim for in form apprentice Sam Payne.
Roughie: Really keen to see Hesitation (Best Odds: $15.00). Her win first up at the Gold Coast was enormous given she was back near last in the run before peeling the widest and producing an unbelievable finish to win with a fair bit of ease. Enormous potential with this filly and she is bred to swim.

Race Six: Hillross Montefiore Handicap (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: Putting a senior jockey back on could spark Upstart Pride (Best Odds: $5.00) into winning form. He ran a close second to Architect first up before running over this track/distance a couple of weeks back when he copped a bit too much pressure in front and tired late to run fifth to Adorabubble. Byrne is back on and he rode the horse first up.
Big Danger: Sweet Serendipity (Best Odds: $6.50) is one of the fastest gallopers in New South Wales. Trained by Jason Coyle who comes to Brisbane after proving too nippy for his rivals over 1150m at Cessnock. Drops 3.5kg from that run, senior rider goes aboard and he will charge over from the wide gate and lead, and recently, leaders at Doomben have proven tough to run down.
Roughie: Handyman Bob (Best Odds: $16.00) won well first up at Cairns before contesting the Cleveland Bay on Townsville Cup Day five weeks back and sitting on a hot speed and just tired late when seventh to Ladretto. He loves racing on the fresh side, and despite drawing wide, he is sure to be a contender.

Race Seven: Padua College Handicap (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: Frilly Curtain (Best Odds: $7.00) has been given a five week freshen up after proving too good for her rivals over this track/distance, beating home Sony Legend, who has run well on a couple of occasions since. Draws to get the run of the race and should take some beating.
Big Danger: Nardoo (Best Odds: $3.60) is a talented type who proved too sharp for her opposition last start at the Gold Coast when sitting on speed and dashing clear late. Handles give in the track and looks well suited after the claim for James Orman.
Roughie: Total Authority (Best Odds: $11.00) is a very consistent galloper who hasn’t raced for a month. He ran over this track/distance where he attempted to lead all the way and tired late to run fourth to I Am Boss. Senior rider, and in form rider aboard now, draws to lead and should prove tough to run down.

Race Eight: Rochele Painting Handicap (0MW) 1350m:
Back Me: Nozawa (Best Odds: $6.50) for me here. He scored a good win two back at Ipswich before racing over this track/distance and running on well late to run fourth to Trubia. That horse bolted in last week to frank the form. Stable is in very good form and looks one of the hardest to beat.
Big Danger: Magic Dallas (Best Odds: $7.00) comes up to Brisbane after a couple of disappointing efforts in Sydney, the latest being a couple of weeks back at Randwick when not suited by the slow tempo behind Moral Victory. Inside gate, D Browne aboard and there has been excellent market support for him.
Roughie: Homehill (Best Odds: $11.00) resumed over 1200m at the Gold Coast and tried his heart out when a close up fifth to Mr Jetset, beaten just under a length in a bunched finish, which is always a worry. Form yet to be tested out, but on his best form, he is a quality galloper.
