Rosehill will conduct a ten race card on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out four metres for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (12:20) Cabra-vale Diggers (bm78) 1350m
7 Air To Air (Bet Now: $18.000 TOP ODDS) is an enigma, but I think the set up for her here is ideal. I want to be very forgiving of her run last Friday night at Canterbury. Track was bottomless, bias was against her and she was just never a factor behind Snippy Fox. Looks to be good speed here, so she should be sitting off that and being strong at the end.
1 Nicci’s Fling (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) is a quality mare for Gary Portelli who looks to have returned in good order. Resumed at Kembla and didn’t stop chasing albeit never a threat to Queen Bellissimo, who dominated from the front and was miles too good. Good second up record, she commands respect.
5 Strange Charm (Bet Now: $8.00 TOP ODDS) has done little wrong in two runs for Kris Lees. Both runs have come under the lights at Canterbury, bolting up fresh before a game effort last Friday night after sitting wide no cover. Think the rise trip suits and she does have a good racing pattern for this track.
Race 2. (12:55) Tab Highway Hcp (c3) 1800m
You need deep pockets to keep buttering up with 5 Lucky Banner (Bet Now: $7.50 TOP ODDS) but I am going to the well one more time. She has run in Highways her past couple and has had no luck both times. Each run she has been trucking and looming to be a threat but as soon as that thought is had, she gets badly checked and held up. Rub of the green here and she can win.
2 Lord Desanimaux (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) could challenge Albert Einstein as one of the great thinkers the world has seen. He looked all over a winner at Kembla last time but didn’t go on with it and got worried out of the win by Point Counterpoint. He’s racing really well…just backing him to win is another matter.
7 Casirina (Bet Now: $9.00 TOP ODDS) will put himself on speed and try hard. He ran in a 2200m race at Scone last when leading at a good clip andgvae a solid kick but had no answers late for Kadashi. That 2200m run under the belt should hold him in good stead for this 1800m assignment.
Race 3. (13:30) C'bury-hurlstone Pk Rsl (bm72) 1200m
Beware the unbeaten horse. Don’t know how good they are til they are beaten so with that in mind, I’m with 1 Snitzonfire (Bet Now: $2.80 TOP ODDS), who is 3/3 to start his career for the WaterBott camp. Latest start/win was October 20 when winning on the Kenso track and running fast time. Tick over trial was good, he’ll be on speed and hard to run down.
5 Ka Bling (Bet Now: $2.80 TOP ODDS) is putting together a good little record for the Snowden team. He didn’t beat a great deal at Wyong last time, whether or not handled the tight track, not sure, but he got the job done. First up he ran third to Stakes winner Kallos, so the form reads well for this.
3 Blow Dart (Bet Now: $11.00 TOP ODDS) is a beauty for Brett Thompson. He ran at the midweek meeting here where he was suited on speed and gave a strong kick, just failing to get the win when a narrow second to Shihonka. 1200m at this level is the query with him, but he does seem a genuine horse.
Race 4. (14:05) Guildford Leagues (bm88) 1100m
I’m going to speck one here each way in the shape of 9 Liberty Sun (Bet Now: $13..00 TOP ODDS). The way I’m reading this race, Mr Mosaic with the lightweight and how he races, he’ll lead at a very quick tempo, so I want to be on a hard fit horse and Liberty Sun, backing up from last Saturday, is indeed that. Firmer deck, massive weight relief, he’s worth a throw at the stumps.
7 Tycoonist (Bet Now: 23.00 TOP ODDS) is a son of Written Tycoon for Chris Waller that resumes. This gelding hasn’t raced since August 28 at Kembla when far from disgraced in defeat behind subsequent Stakes winner Madam Legend. Two trials to get ready and while he isn’t usually a fresh horse, it hasn’t been a long spell and likes Rosehill.
1 Wisdom Of Water… (Bet Now: $6.000 TOP ODDS) is he back? His three runs in Melbourne were terrible and I had penned him but he was much better from off the speed at Kembla in The Warra when third to Eleven Eleven. He’s hard to follow and trust, but his best is clearly good enough.
Race 5. (14:40) Midway (bm72) 1300m
1 Black Duke (Bet Now: $7.50) deserves another chance. Strong winner fresh at Canterbury before going to Kembla. 200m out he looked the winner when he got the split nearer the inside but as soon as he got the run, he flattened out and tired late behind Ranges. He was nearer the inside, which was quicksand, so be forgiving and give him another chance.
6 Diva Bella (Bet Now: $14.00) deserves a crack at this kind of race. Has won two of her past three, with her last start resulting in a strong on speed win at Gosford. The race was there to be won and loved the way she dug in when required to get the job done. Good test for here, but think she’s up to it.
2 Awesome Lad (Bet Now: $9.50) looks to be in for a good prep. Jason Deamer trained gelding that resumed here at the midweek meeting when near the speed throughout and stuck to the task gamely when third to a quality animal in Zarastro. Good second up record and that form does read well for a Midway.
Race 6. (15:20) Campbelltown Catholic Clb-bm72 1800m
7 Karlstad (Bet Now: $4.20) is heading in the right direction for Chris Waller and his confidence is up after a stint in Queensland. He has won two on the bounce, winning impressively at Eagle Farm before an all the way win at the Sunny Coast two weeks ago. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s going.
2 Rousseau (Bet Now: $2.80) isn’t the most reliable horse going around but he’s found winning form and I think can go on with it. Lovely ride from John Allen saw him win last Friday night at the Valley. Timed his run to perfect, just holding off Sacred Lass. Good test for him here, but I think he’s up to it.
11 Spaltet (Bet Now: $4.60) looks a progressive animal and is in with a shout. Badly held up last start at Hawkesbury and could make a case to say he wins with clear air, albeit the winner burnt the candle at both ends and was impressive. Draws wide, but up to 1800m is a big tick and should be strong late.
Race 7. (16:00) Cabra Bowls (bm78) 2000m
1 Huetor (Bet Now: $6.00) looks a progressive animal for Team Snowden that should love the rise to 1800m. Australian debut came a few weeks ago at Newcastle over the mile. He was under pressure a fair way out but found under pressure, surged hard late and nabbed them on the peg. You’d like to think there is improvement to come and with that being the case, he’s the pony to beat.
4 Born A King (Bet Now: $4.20) is a key threat for me. He’s heading in the right direction for Chris Waller and can win again. Lovely return at Randwick on Cup Day and confirmed that with a strong win here at the midweeks. Gets a rise in trip and from the gate, should do no work in the run getting dragged back and be strong late. Hard to beat.
10 The Guru (Bet Now: $11.00) has found winning for Theresa Bateup and he is maintaining it. Toughed it out strongly to win on Cup Day at Randwick. He then proved it was no fluke on his home track at Kembla when stepping up in grade and was there to be beaten but he found under pressure, kicked hard and won. He’ll go close again.
Race 8. (16:40) Dooleys (bm72) 1500m
3 Too Much Caviar (Bet Now: $7.00) has a good racing style on a normal track but the way Rosehill has played in recent times, being on speed/fence is the A1 spot so with that in mind, he goes on top. Attempted to lead throughout at this track/distance last time out and fought on quite gamely when third to Born A King. He’ll take beating from the front.
1 Francisco Guardi (Bet Now: $2.25) is becoming somewhat of a money muncher and I think this is just about D-Day for him. Good in defeat fresh behind Zoushack. Then raced here again and if you were on, apologies for bringing up the nightmare. He was unlucky and could easily make a case to say he wins with a clear path. If he gets that here, he can win.
5 Casino Kid (Bet Now: $14.00) is still eligible for Highways, so this is a decent step up in grade/depth for him, but he’s flying. Could easily make a case to say that with clear air, he wins at Newcastle three weeks back in a Highway. Just had no luck in the straight when seemingly full of running. If the breaks go his way, a win wouldn’t totally shock.
Race 9. (17:20) Bankstown Sports Club (bm88) 1400m
7 Canasta (Bet Now: $4.60) can be an improver here. Resumed two weeks back at Rosehill in a 78 where it looked more or less a prep run but he wasn’t too bad in defeat I thought behind Ranges. Goes much better second up and down in the weights, an improved showing is on the cards.
I don’t think 9 Oxford Tycoon (Bet Now: $12.00) can win, but the 51.5kg is a big factor to him running a positive race. He led at Kembla and IMO had every chance when a tiring third to dominant winner Dynamic Impact. I think with the weight, he’ll give cheek and if the track is dynamite on speed/fence like last Saturday, he comes right into play.

Race 10. (18:00) Smithfield Rsl Club (bm78) 1200m
2 Much Much Better (Bet Now: $5.50) is three weeks between runs for Gary Moore since leading and giving his rivals a spanking at Newcastle. Admittedly it was a good day to be in the first few but even allowing for that, he was still dominant and impressive. If he can hold that here, he’ll take beating.
No reason why 7 Amiche (Bet Now: $7.00) can’t win again. Was fresh and having her first run for Ed Cummings when winning a few weeks ago over 1100m, coming with a well timed run from off the speed to score. She is a dynamic fresh horse, which is the concern, but new trainer, new methods, that could all change.
5 Ranges (Bet Now: $9.00) looks to be in for a good prep. He was kept pretty safe in betting when resuming over 1200m at Kembla and under a good ride from Tommy Berry, he surged hard late out wide to nab them near the peg for a strong win. He’s got upside to come and is hard to beat.
