5/11/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Lee Steere Stakes day

The Ascot Carnival continues this Saturday, headined by both the Fairetha Stakes (1400m) and Lee Steere Stakes (1400m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

1 Brave Halo (Bet Now: $1.14) should be making it 3/3. Team Casey trained juvenile that has been dominant in two career outings, winning them both impressively. Admittedly, we probably haven’t seen anything special yet re the juveniles, but he is the pick of them and should be taking this out.

6 I’m On (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Nostradamus filly for Dion Luciani that is on debut. She’s had three trials to get ready for start one, all over 400m, winning the latest one. 400m trials I take with a grain of salt but she’s had three of them so there is a good enough grounding I think for a forward showing on debut.

5 Shell Bell (Bet Now: $8.00) is one to be respected. She debuted behind Brave Halo two weeks back and while he was never a factor, I didn’t mind the way she finished her race off behind Brave Halo. I think she’s dangerouf if she can settle closer. Can fill a place, but doubt she turns the tables.

I think you have to believe what you saw with 5 My Bella Mae (Bet Now: $2.35) and her debut win here at the midweeks. Gee it was sharp. Had the suck run behind the speed before cutitng back inside and she showed change up speed of a good horse in putting them away impressively. Good test here, but confident she measures up.

3 Diamond Command (Bet Now: $20.00) has done little wrong in a four start career for Neville Parnham. She resumes here, her latest run coming on July 16 when a closing third at Belmont. Interesting she resumes without a trial, but gets an ideal map and has somewhat residual fitness.

4 Givemeonereason (Bet Now: $11.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. Maiden win came two back over 1000m before going to 1100m and was good late without threatening behind dynamic winner My Bella Mae. Racing like 1200m will suit and will be dangerous if he’s within range on the turn.

3 Tri For Us (Bet Now: $2.70) is bursting to win this time in and I think she gets her chance here. She was good against the race shape two back behind Buster Bash before going back to the mile last Saturday and drove hard late, just missing out on the win when second to Saintorio. Like her up in trip and the depth here is quite thin.

2 Off Wego (Bet Now: $5.50) is dangerous. Stablemate of Tri For Us that ran a narrow second to Blackwater Bay two back before going to the 2200m here two weeks ago and was okay without setting the world on fire behind All Man. Back to this level and back slightly in trip, he commands respect.

8 Zadar Rock (Bet Now: $6.00) is somewhat unknown at the trip, but a potential cheap run on speed helps his cause. He ran over the mile here last time out when on speed and fought on quite gamely when second to Bannana. On breeding, 2100m will be okay, and is the one with upside.

7 Pennys Afield (Bet Now: $5.00) does seem to get better as the prep goes on and I do think that third up from a spell, she should just about be at peak fitness. She ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where she got back in the run and worked home pretty well against the race shape behind all the way winner Big Screen. If she can settle closer in the run and with clear air, she can take this out.

4 Stellar Vista (Bet Now: $7.00) is looking to make it three on the bounce for Simon Miller. Lovely ride saw her win at Northam two back before going here and this trip when sitting back from the wide gate but got clear air and launched late to win and win impressively. Harder here, but hard to knock a mare in form.

2 Trade War (Bet Now: $8.00) is flying but has such an awful racing pattern. Both runs this time in have come at this track/distance, the latest coming two weeks back when back near last and making up good ground late behind Bustler. Now up to 1400m, hard to beat if he can settle closer in the run.

5 Bustler… (Bet Now: $2.40) is he the real deal? The bubble, to an extent, burst on Tuesday with Amelia’s Jewel so the Northerly, in terms of the locals, is wide open. This guy has been dominant this time in with a couple of sharp wins at 1200m. He’s racing like he will eat up 1400m so happy to be in his corner.

3 All The King’s Men (Bet Now: $5.50) has the 1400m run under the belt and is tough. Led throughout to win at the trip two weeks ago and was strong to the line in winning, beating Saintorio, a tough winner last Saturday, so the form reads well and he has a good racing style.

4 Rejuva King (Bet Now: $12.00) lacks the class of some of these but will be strong late if they go hard in front. He ran behind All The King’s Men two weeks back and just forget he went around. He was back last in a slowly run race and was never a factor. More genuine tempo here, he can run a much improved race.

11 Lord Gannicus (Bet Now: $2.90) can probably stamp his WA Guineas credentials with a win here. Gee it was a big win from him over 1500m last Wednesday. He was chasing from a fair way out and was off the bit but I loved the way he found the line late to win. Bit of depth to this field, but he’s clearly heading in the right direction.

10 Uncompromised (Bet Now: $6.50) should love the rise to the mile for Michael Grantham. He ran in the Big Screen race from two weeks ago over 1400m here and he kept chasing the line with purpose, and he got within a half length of Big Screen in a close finish. Racing like the mile suits and is a key threat.

1 Acting God (Bet Now: $5.50) hasn’t been too bad in two runs back from a spell. He finished behind a beauty, Karli’s Karma, first up. He then went to this track/distance two weeks back in a strong 72+ and was very good late from near last behind Holy Ghost. If he can settle closer in the run, he’ll take beating.

5 Rokanori (Bet Now: $4.50) on top for me. Team Williams trained four year old that resumed four weeks ago over 1000m where I was a bit surprised to see him settle close to the speed given he’s better suited over further but I liked the way he stuck on behind River Beau, finishing a close up fourth. Straight to 1400m but has a touch of class on his side.

12 Above The Peg (Bet Now: $4.80) looks to have returned in pretty good order. He resumed a fortnight back over 1200m here and on the turn, it looked no betting the way he was going in the run. Hailed as the winner but was nabbed late by Featherweight, who had the suck run behind and finished best. Fitter, up to 1400m, he appeals.

4 Creator (Bet Now: $13.00) is not far off a win. Close up in defeat two back in the Hannans at Kalgoorlie before going to this track/distance three weeks back and he battled on strongly behind Trix Of The Trade, who ran a beauty last Saturday and is a knockout Railway contender. That form has to read well for this.

10 Karli’s Karma (Bet Now: $4.60) can stamp herself as a serious Railway contender with a win here. She has been stunning in two runs/wins back from a spell, with the big key being her change up speed. It’s dynamite and it’ll get her out of trouble if in a tricky spot or it can put the race to bed. I think she’ll do the latter and confirm her spot in the Group l.

5 Resortman (Bet Now: $3.40) is an absolute beauty for Michael Lane. He is several weeks between runs since contesting the Eurhyhmic at this track/distance when sprouting wings late to overhaul them for an impressive win. Good test here taking on some big boys and girls, but confident he can measure up.

6 Comfort Me (Bet Now: $6.00) has the class/quality to give this a shake. He resumed in the Eurythmic behind Resortman where he was near the speed throughout and tried hard but I reckon condition just gave way. Better for the run under the belt, he commands respect.

16 Zephyra (Bet Now: $2.50) is a quality mare for Team Williams that is unbeaten in three career outings so keen to see how she resumes. Those wins came against her own age in the Autumn and each time she was impressive. She looks she is going to head down the Jungle Series, so may need this run, but beware the unbeaten horse.

11 Real Grace (Bet Now: $7.50) is racing in a real purple patch for Michael Grantham. She spanked them two back at Geraldton, getting a much needed confidence boost. She then went to this track/distance several weeks ago when back from the wide gate but came with a well timed run to win nicely. Break between runs tells me she’s being kept on ice for the Jungle Series, so keen to see how she goes.

12 Cold Shizzle (Bet Now: $20.00) is one for wider multiples. Game second two back during the Kalgoorlie Carnival before going to Northam where he was just off the speed and battled on strongly when a close up third to Highfriar. I reckon back to 1200m is ideal ideal for him and he’s dangerous.
