Race 1. (12:25) Midway (Bm72) 1300m
2 Astero (Bet Now: $6.00) is the one with upside. He resumed in a Midway two weeks ago at Randwick where he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out, but close up in defeat behind Liberty Sun. Good second up record and with natural improvement, he is hard to beat here.
7 Media Starguest (Bet Now: $18.00) is a hard horse to catch but his best is good enough to be dangerous. He resumed over 1250m on the Kenso track last Wednesday and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up some headway behind Audette. Fitter, has run well here before…couldn’t back him to win, but one for multiples.
9 Verbek (Bet Now: $6.00) is capable for Team Price. He ran in the Jungle Juice Cup at Newcastle last time out where he got back to near last in the run before being presented clear air in the straight and loomed to win but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Ang Pow. Has done well at the trip previously so not penning him.
Race 2. (13:00) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1400m
5 Sir Ravanelli (Bet Now: $3.10) is such a genuine animal for Terry Evans that deserves a Highway win. He ran in the Highway last Saturday at this track and was warming to the task nicely at the end when third to Pokerjack, beaten 1.4L. Like him up to 1400m and hard to beat with a more positive steer.
8 Brazen Impact (Bet Now: $9.00) looks hard to beat I feel. On the seven day back up after racing in the Highway here last Saturday where he didn’t quite get the rub of the green in the straight and should have finished much closer behind Pokerjack. Form prior suggested a win was nearby so want to give him another chance.
18 Mathrin (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Michael Travers trained mare that tries her guts out but she just finds it very hard to win. Fresh legs when racing over 1200m at Wagga, closing off with real purpose when second to Nats Enough. I couldn’t back her to win but an absolute must for multiples.
Race 3. (13:35) Chandon (Bm78) 2400m
3 King Frankel (Bet Now: $2.90) looks an out and out stayer that will just keep on. He won over this trip at Warwick Farm last time, leading throughout and despite looking gone on a few occasions, he found under pressure to win. Lands near the front and will only run well I’d suggest.
9 Essential Sky (Bet Now: $4.00) is absolutely flying for John Sargent, a stable that is flying at the moment. She has won her past two, the latest coming last Wednesday on the Kenso when given a peach by King and in a driving finish, she got the win. Harder here, but she has earned a crack.
10 Sound Of Cannons (Bet Now: $26.00) is capable. He ran third in the Essential Sky race from last Wednesday on the Kenso track and he worked to the line pretty well without threatening in what was survival of the fittest behind the in form Sargent mare. Hard fit now I think, don’t pen him.
Race 4. (14:10) Quayclean (Bm78) 1800m
5 Colour Sergeant (Bet Now: $9.50) is crying out for more ground and he gets it here. Last couple of runs from a freshen up have come at the mile, the latest being at Randwick behind Mahagoni where he got back and while he was never a factor, I didn’t mind the way he warmed up late. Hard to beat if he’s within range on the turn.
Fitter and up to 1800m, have to give respect to 7 Naval Seal (Bet Now: $2.60). He resumed over the mile at Randwick two weeks ago where he had the suck run behind the speed before angling clear and tried hard, but was nabbed late by an in form Mahagoni. Proven track/distance performer, he’s a leading chance.
Giving respect to 1 Mayfair Spirit (Bet Now: $10.00). Was keen on him at the midweeks at Warwick Farm but it was such an ugly watch late. He was building up nicely and about to be right in the finish but he got chopped out and ended up finishing fourth. He’s flying and I think getting to the bigger track, with clear air, he’s hard to beat.
Race 5. (14:50) Furphy (Bm78) 1200m
Happy to side with 6 Kobe Rocks (Bet Now: $7.00), who resumes for Bjorn Baker. He is a tick under 12 months between runs where he had a two run prep and failed to fire. Not sure what the issue has been but his two trials to get ready have been outstanding. Keen on his chances in a very winnable race.
2 Fox Fighter (Bet Now: $3.70) is flying for David Payne. Dominant win at Rosehill two back before going to Randwick two weeks ago where he tried hard from off the speed but couldn’t quite get there when third to Titanium Power. Like him back at Rosehill and is hard to beat against these.
3 Bend The Knee (Bet Now: $8.50) is a son of Snitzel for John O’Shea that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Brisbane Winter Carnival where he ran well during the Sydney Autumn but but by the time he got to Brisbane, he was a tired horse. Stable is absolutely flying and his two trials have been quite encouraging.
Race 6. (15:30) Golden Gift 1100m
3 Disneck (Bet Now: $6.50) looks a really good mover for Bjorn Baker that is on debut. Trapeze Artist colt that has only had one 740m trial to get ready for start one, which saw him sit off the leader and what impressed me is that when asked to go, he savaged the line and gee he was impressive in winning the trial. He’ll park off the speed from the gate and should be strong late.
8 Misty Legend (Bet Now: $14.00) is on debut for Team Freedman and I think has talent. Looks a big dope of a thing but I think has an engine under the hood. Won his trial over 1080m at Randwick, leading throughout and did a bit wrong but seemed to go well enough. At least he has had the 1000m+ trial under the belt to get ready instead of a short course trial.
4 Flying Trapeze (Bet Now: $26.00) has the race experience under the belt, which should hold him in good stead. He debuted in the Breeders Plate where he showed good early speed, like he did in the trials, and just felt the pinch late behind Empire Of Japan. Better for the run and has the right racing pattern to prove hard to beat.
Race 7. (16:10) Hot Danish Stakes 1400m
1 Electric Girl (Bet Now: $2.35) is bursting to win one and I think she gets a great chance here. She tried her guts out in The Invitation two weeks ago and surged hard late, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Promise Of Success. The track should be firm, which she will love, and has the right form.
9 Divine Magic (Bet Now: $34.00) is such a fascinating runner. Marco Botti trained mare that makes her Australian debut and off her UK form, as a whole, it does read very well for a race like this, where the jury is somewhat out on them as a whole. Market will be fascinating, but she could just be better than them.
10 Samoot (Bet Now: $9.50) is a good horse who can certainly measure up here. Given no hope with the ride at Randwick two weeks ago and really, she did a remarkable job to finish as close as she did when beaten narrowly by Titanium Power, who had the good run on speed and was too good. More positive ride, she can win.
Race 8. (16:50) Five Diamonds 1800m
1 Ellsberg (Bet Now: $2.80) is a query at 1800m, but he’s quite clearly the best horse in the race and I think that class gets him home. Epsom winner who got complete control in the Five Diamonds Prelude and was never getting beat from a fair way out. If he runs the 1800m, he wins. Just depends what sort of run he gets.
9 Diamil (Bet Now: $11.00) has that sense of timing about him and he looks like he will be strong at 1800m. He won over the mile at Randwick two weeks ago, backing up from the Five Diamonds Prelude where he was plain, but the back up worked wonders with a strong win. Like him up to 1800m and is hard to beat.
12 Rebel Rama (Bet Now: $21.00) is only second up here so she has loads of room for improvement. She resumed in the Five Diamonds Prelude when wide no cover on speed and given the slow tempo, she was entitled to kick on like she did, finishing third to Ellsberg. Proven stayer, upside, she’s a knockout hope.
Race 9. (17:25) New Tab App (Bm78) 1100m
1 Coco Rox (Bet Now: $2.90) to bounce back. Was keen on her when she resumed at the Warwick Farm midweeks but the market said she’d need the run. She missed the start and that sealed her fate, but was good late when a close up fourth. Fitter, with a clean jump, confident she can bounce back.
8 Devils Triangle (Bet Now: $8.00) looks to have returned in really good order. Resumed over 1000m at Warwick Farm where she was back on a day where on speed was advantaged and was very good late behind Way To The Stars. Fitter, back to Mares grade, she’ll take beating here.
11 Ebhaar (Bet Now: $7.00) has the right racing pattern to give this a shake. She races best when she jumps/runs and that racing style is perfect for the Rosehill 1100m. Another key to her is dry ground, which she gets here, so while she is hit and miss, her best is certainly good enough.
Race 10. (18:05) Ranvet (Bm78) 1400m
Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 4 Bella Rouge (Bet Now: $3.70). Just one soft trial leading into her return at Randwick two weeks ago and I actually thought she didn’t do a bad job in defeat when beaten just under three lengths by Titanium Power. Has a bit of quality about her and has enormous upside. Hard to beat.
13 Short Shorts (Bet Now: $10.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. All three runs this time in have come at the Warwick Farm midweeks, the latest over 1400m when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick, just feeling the pinch when fourth to Zoushack. If he gets a cheap lead, he’ll take running down.
2 Starman (Bet Now: $6.50) is capable with his best. He ran at the Warwick Farm midweeks where he didn’t quite get the rub of the green when he wanted it and should have finished closer behind The Poacher, an in form galloper with good promise. Racing like 1400m will suit and form around him, gee it reads well.
