Cup Day racing in Perth heads to Ascot, headlined by the Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m). Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out eleven metres for the entire circuit.

3 Mythical Dream (Bet Now: $2.25) looks to have a bit on this average lot. Michael Grantham trained gelding that has run over 1400m at Geraldton his past two, the latest seeing him get too far back but finishing off with purpose so the rise to 1800m looks ideal and there is just no depth to this line up.

6 Uni Strike (Bet Now: $5.50) is racing like 1800m suits. He ran over the mile last start where he was a bit one paced when asked for the effort but he kept on and was pretty good in defeat. Maps to do no work and be strong late so he commands respect.

12 Bad Company (Bet Now: $8.00) should just about be at peak fitness and has a good racing style. He was 1600m back to 1500m when racing here last time out and he tried hard but just felt the pinch late. Like the rise in trip and with front end control, he takes beating.

5 Rally The Troops (Bet Now: $2.45) gets the nod for me in an even contest. He won his maiden last time out over 1400m at Geraldton, leading all the way and gave nothing else a look in, winning impressively. Good racing style, confidence is up and will be strong late I suspect.

8 Cashel Palace (Bet Now: $3.80) is a filly on the up for Dan Morton. Last run came over 1200m where she was run off her legs early and while she was never a winning threat, her finale was solid enough. Improving type, I am not dismissing her.

3 Cosmic Eclipse (Bet Now: $7.00) has had a few runs at 1200m and has been hitting the line well so 1500m looks suited. Latest run was at York where she got back but was good late in the piece. If she’s within range, she has the finale to be quite dangerous.

7 True Player (Bet Now: $3.20) looks the second of the good things on the card. Team Williams trained gelding that bumped into a potential Group l horse, Olympic Park, first up before going to Northam where he gave them a start and a beating and was impressive. He’s heading in the right direction and should take a power of beating.

8 Border Force (Bet Now: $2.40) has to be rated as a key winning chance after last start at this track/distance where he pretty much went around like it was a barrier trial and had no room to move for the entire straight. If the breaks go his way, he can take this out.

1 Bad Wolf (Bet Now: $35.00) has these on toast re class but it’s been a little while since he has displayed that. He resumed at Geraldton where he just looked in need of the run when down the track after getting every chance. Fitter and up in trip, he’s an improver at odds.

11 Nonesospicy (Bet Now: $4.40) looks a filly that has an engine under the hood. She resumed over 1200m at Belmont and I thought closed off well from off the speed when third, beaten just over two lengths. Back to 1000m I find interesting but she gets Pike aboard, she can settle closer and be strong late.

8 Magnique (Bet Now: $2.20) has done little wrong in two career outings and commands respect. This girl has been runner up in both runs, the latest when on speed, ridden with intent and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job. Has talent and should be around the mark once again.

2 Cypress Mountain (Bet Now: $46.00) is a son of Vancouver that resumes for Mitch Pateman. He has only had one run, which came on May 22 at Belmont when leading and tiring late, dropping out to finish down the track behind Storyville. Likely lands in front, trial was good and he’ll give a sight. First four contender.

3 Famous Dain (Bet Now: $5.50) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. He has run third his past two, firstly over 1760m at Kalgoorlie before going to the mile at Northam when back off the speed and kept finding the line behind surprise winner Sketta. Back up in trip I do like and this isn’t an overly deep contest.

6 The Rooster (Bet Now: $5.50) has found winning form and he can go on with it. The win came over the mile at Belmont when on speed and trucking before being clicked up and found under pressure to draw clear late and win well. His confidence is up, he commands respect.

2 Buckeye Bullet (Bet Now: $7.50) is knocking on the door. He ran over the mile here last time out when getting back to near last in the run but I really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat behind impressive winner Audio Boy. If he can settle closer, he’s dangerous for sure.

13 Mai Aloha (Bet Now: $7.50) is the way I am leaning for Team Williams. Dominant maiden win at York two back before going to Belmont when on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late. I think perhaps with a more patient steer, she’ll be far more effective and can take this out.

12 Boyz Lite Up (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is still a maiden but he does have talent IMO. He resumed over 1200m at Belmont when off the speed and although he was a bit flat footed when the sprint went on, he found the line and was pretty good late in the piece. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’s dangerous for sure.

3 Solar System (Bet Now: $14.00) is a threat if they ride him with a bit more intent. They rode him cold over 1200m at Belmont last time and although he did make up ground, he was never really a factor behind Play Dice. Just want to see a positive ride. If that eventuates, he can win.

8 On Patrol (Bet Now: $3.00) for me. Team Casey trained gelding that resumed at this track/distance when off the speed and doing no work before angling into clear air and let down with purpose late in a good return behind Ain’t No Other Man. Pike is on, better for the run, he takes beating.

4 Madame Magic (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Team Pearce trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since April 27 at Ascot when racing over 1400m here and was good late from off the speed behind Sapphire Street. She is a mare who does race well on the fresh side and has trialled well for the return.

5 Miss Vasari (Bet Now: $16.00) is an improver at odds. She resumed at this track/distance where she was wide throughout and tried to get involved but was a bit on the one paced side and never really got involved behind Regal Statue. Maps to settle much closer and her best is good enough.

6 Flower Of Gold (Bet Now: $5.50) is putting her hand up in a big way to say she can be a dominant filly. 2/2 this time in, both wins being electric where each time she has given them a start and a beating, winning by a space and doing it on the clock as well. Think she’s very much above average and keen on her prospects.

3 Divine Impact (Bet Now: $5.50) is 2/2 this time in and commands respect for Neville Parnham. Resumed with a win over 1000m before having a few weeks off and going to 1400m where she got control in front but given the ordinary set up, she was out of tickets late but had enough in hand. Better for the run, she’s hard to beat.

1 London’s Image (Bet Now: $26.00) will put herself on speed and look to give her all. She got front end control at Bunbury just under four weeks back and that saw her dominate her rivals from the front, giving nothing a look in, winning well. With that racing pattern, she’ll give herself every chance.

14 Nunes (Bet Now: $20.00) will do me each way in the get out. This mare doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but she does have talent. She ran over 1400m at Northam last time out where she got too far back in the run but really liked the way she finished her race off in defeat. Loses Pike but because of that, you’re getting double figures, which entices me.

13 Processio (Bet Now: $3.30) should appreciate a rise to 1400m. This mare resumed over 1200m here where she got off the speed and kept chasing. Never a winning threat, but her finale was more than sound in defeat behind Ahyeahrighto. Pike sticks, fitter and up in trip, she’ll only run well I say.

5 Kelora (Bet Now: $15.00) has found winning form and is a knockout hope. He won over 1400m at Northam last time, getting the sweet sit in behind before angling clear and finished best to win narrowly but impressively. Genuine animal…lacks the class but with his racing style, he will be a threat at odds.

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 6 Flower Of Gold

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 14 Nunes
