Race 1. (12:32) Drinkwise Mdn Plate 1000m
3 Ser Joh (Bet Now: $2.90) looks ready to rock and roll for his return. Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since May 8 here when having his lone run for the prep and was a bit on the plain side late in the piece. Given a break and he went like a rocket in a trial win here. Think it’ll be handle bars down and try and run them ragged.
6 Iced Chocolate (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for David Vandyke. She has been runner up her past three, the latest over 1110m here when off the speed and loomed to win but couldn’t quite see it through behind Sultry Siren when second. Knocking on the door and strikes a winnable race.
7 Dismantle (Bet Now: $5.50) will put herself on speed and look to give her all. She attempted to lead throughout when debuting over 1200m here and gave a solid sight but just couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late. Back to 1000m, will press forward and only run well.
Race 2. (13:12) Sen Mdn Plate 1600m
8 Metcalfe (Bet Now: $11.00) is near double figures and that is an enticing enough price for me to chime in each way. He resumed over 1400m at the Sunny Coast where he just got too far back in the run but I really liked his finale in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, can settle closer and be strong at the end.
11 Autora (Bet Now: $2.80) is the likely winner but she’s an 11 start maiden…she seems on the short side for a mare who has had chances to break the maiden tag, the latest being at Ipswich where she seemed to have every chance but had to settle for a second. Maps perfect and should be around the mark.
4 Napa Valley (Bet Now: $8.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran over 1400m here last time when on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when fourth. Hard fit, good racing style, his best is god enough to be dangerous at odds.
Race 3. (13:47) Ascot Green Mdn Plate 1200m
8 Rum Rumble (Bet Now: $21.00) is worth a throw at the stumps at a price. Rob Heathcoate trained son of Pierata that is on debut. He trialled her a couple of weeks ago and although on paper it was a well held fifth, I thought he moved with purpose and was quite good, with something up the sleeve. Maps to do no work, keen to see how he goes.
10 Ally (Bet Now: $5.50) has done little wrong in a four start career and commands respect as one of the hardest to beat. She has placed in both runs this time in, the latest coming over 1200m at Eagle Farm when near the speed and fought hard but had to settle for a third. With luck from the gate, she appeals.
5 Imperial Red (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Spirit Of Boom gelding for Matty Hoysted that is on debut off the back of okay trial work, the latest coming here when leading and just feeling the pinch late in the piece. Stable can get them ready for start one/first up, so watch the market.
Race 4. (14:35) Impressu Hcp (C4) 1000m
7 She’s A Rogue (Bet Now: $3.10) will lead this field up and right down in the weights, I think she only runs well. On speed over 1110m at Doomben last time and tried hard but the trip was just a bridge too far for her late in the piece. Gate one, down in the weights, back to 1000m, she’ll take running down.
6 Arisphere (Bet Now: $3.20) is a mare that is in form for Tony Gollan and commands respect. This mare has won her past two, both over 1000m at the Sunny Coast where each time she has been impressive and has shown versatility. Good test here with the rise in grade/depth but hard to knock how well she’s racing.
2 Maximum Vortex (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can be entertained for multiples. This guy resumed over 1100m at Beaudesert when off the speed and kept chasing in a good return when second to Hodgson. Fast run 1000m, he’ll sit off the good speed and launch at them late in the piece.
Race 5. (15:42) Intro Recruitment Cup Hcp (C5) 1400m
9 Larrikin Rouge (Bet Now: $2.60) is a touch on the short side but I do think he’s one of the better bets on the card. He resumed over 1200m here where he got back in the run but worked home strongly late in the piece when third to Troika. Really good return so fitter, up to 1400m, he takes a power of beating.
2 Tojaki (Bet Now: $11.00) has class on her side that will carry her a long way. Resumed over 1350m at Doomben where they rode her a touch warm and she didn’t finish the race off at all behind a good mare, Countyourblessings. Fitter and onto the bigger track, she’s a big improver.
4 Goldeeluck (Bet Now: $9.00) looks to have returned in good order and strikes a winnable race I find. He resumed over 1350m at Ipswich where he got back off the speed and while he was never threatening, he did make up ground and was good in defeat behind Dream Lantern. Better set up here, he’s a threat.
Race 6. (16:23) Seven (Bm65) 2418m
4 The Irish (Bet Now: $6.00) is third up from a spell, should just about be at peak fitness and suited up to 2400m for Lee Freedman. He has been solid in two runs back from a spell, the latest run coming over 1800m here when back in the run and making up solid headway late in the piece when fourth. Like him up in distance and strikes a winnable race.
1 Intuitu (Bet Now: $2.90) brings a class edge and is a last start track/distance winner, the win being a Saturday metro race and he gave them an absolute spanking, getting better as the race went on. The depth here is nowhere near as deep, maps perfect and with the claim, he rates highly.
2 Bedford Square (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Jack Bruce trained mare that should be entertained for exotics. She ran third to Intuitu in the race mentioned above when. She was near the speed throughout and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Not sure she is one I could back to win but one for exotics.
Race 7. (17:06) Hcp (C1) 1200m
4 Pivotal Lad (Bet Now: $10.00) each way for me in what looks a very open contest. Tony Gollan trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since May 4 over 1300m here when back in the run and failed to get involved when down the track behind Golden Decade. Trialled well for the return and maps to do no work.
1 Runwiththetide (Bet Now: $5.50) is an improver for Rob Heathcoate. First run for the stable came at this track/distance where he looked in need of the run and that’s how it panned out behind Deferential. Finds a very thin race here, has good upside and maps ideally.
9 Jungle Law (Bet Now: $12.00) is suited back to 1200m I feel after racing over 1350m at Doomben last time where she tried hard but couldn’t quite see out the trip when down the track behind Araminta. Back in trip and drawn soft, I think she’s in with a shout at odds.
Race 8. (17:46) Canadian Club (Bm65) 1500m
3 Ludovisi (Bet Now: $4.80) will do me each way. Tony Gollan trained gelding that ran over 1400m here last time where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was good in defeat behind Bullion Boy. Up in trip I like, can settle closer and still be effective late.
7 Sunlord (Bet Now: $4.50) is fourth up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran over 1350m at Doomben last time when off the speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort behind Accapella Nova, beaten just over two lengths. Like him up to 1500m, hard fit and can settle much closer in the run.
8 Disney Castle (Bet Now: $6.00) can press forward and be dangerous at odds. They rode her with intent last start over 1400m here and tried hard but was no match late for impressive winner Andersen, beaten just under a length. Hard fit now, in well after the claim, she appeals.
Race 9. (18:25) Ladbrokes Form Genius (Bm68) 1840m
3 Adelad (Bet Now: $18.00) is an each way speck for me in the get out. Team Sears trained gelding that has been plain his past couple but I will say last start, he looked like he was trucking into the race with purpose but when asked for the effort, he didn’t find much. Blinkers back on to sharpen him up and his best is more than good enough.
7 Rock Ya (Bet Now: $3.80) is a horse that I do feel has an engine under the hood. Loved the way he let down to win fresh at the mile here before going to this track/distance just over two weeks back where he ran his race in patches behind Ceremonious but was good overall. Hard fit now, I am not dismissing him.
8 Kingfield (Bet Now: $23.00) might want one another run but the rise in trip is ideal after resuming over 1350m at Doomben when back in the run and made up good ground without threatening. Has good upside, more than most, and should do no work in the run from the draw.
