1 Cape Breton (Bet Now: $2.15 TOP ODDS) looks a nice colt for Chris Waller that comes here after debuting with a strong win last Wednesday at Canterbury over 1250m. Peach steer from J Mac was the main reason why he won, but credit to the colt as well, who was on debut and against some nice types. Keen to see how he goes.

Danger

7 Royalzel (Bet Now: $3.70 TOP ODDS) can run well here. Beat the older horses in a maiden last week at Kembla and while it wasn’t a strong field she beat up, she did it nicely, letting down on the heavy track to score, so a bit of rain hitting this track is no issue for her. so have to give her some level of respect.

Long Shot

9 Hundred Proof (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) comes across from Victoria for the Maher/Eustace camp and he does bring the different form, which should be respected. The race he comes through at Flemington didn’t rate too flash, but traditionally has been a solid form race in recent times, so he’s not without a hope.

Race 2. (11:55) Tab Highway Hcp (c3) 1100m

Been waiting six months for 3 Nicci Trix (Bet Now: $3.50 TOP ODDS) to get to a Highway and here she is. She was really plain I thought fresh at Port Macquarie but bounced back to her best when spanking them at Taree, leading throughout. Good test here, but she’ll land on speed and trying hard, hopefully holding on.

Danger

6 Patino Ruby (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) is much better suited at 1100m than 1200m, which is the trip she resumed at two weeks ago in the Highway. Attempted to lead throughout and gave a really good kick. Just felt the pinch late. That’s why back to 1100m is a big positive, and she’ll give a great sight.

Long Shot

12 Tulla Park (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS) can be a sneaky chance from the soft draw. Tash Burleigh trained three year old that resumed at Goulburn. He didn’t beat a great deal but I thought he was impressive on the testing track. Does no work from the gate and stable should always be respected when they come to town.

Race 3. (12:30) Bisley Workwear (bm72) 1800m

Back Me

I like 10 Wicklow (Bet Now: $3.90 TOP ODDS) as a horse. Former UK galloper that made his Australian debut in a Kembla maiden. Market didn’t want him late but it mattered not as he came with a well timed run from off the speed under Avdulla and was too good. He’ll love the rise in trip and is in the right camp.

Danger

4 Le Vizir (Bet Now: $7.50 TOP ODDS) has done a really good job this time in for the Ryan/Alexiou camp. Led and just felt the pinch two back at Newcastle. He then raced over 2000m here when ridden with a sit and those tactics seemed to work as he stayed on and was sound in defeat when fourth to Rebel Rama. Similar tactics and back in trip, he’ll be quite effective.

Long Shot

13 Always On Show (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) is racing like she will appreciate the rise to 1800m. Ran over 1550m on the Kenso track last time out. Got a fair way back in the run and was never really a winning factor, but her finale was quite good behind Easy Campese. Up in trip, bigger track, she can be dangerous.

Race 4. (13:05) Fujitsu General (bm72) 1400m

Back Me

15 Scream And Shout (Bet Now: $6.00 TOP ODDS) looks a smart animal for John O’Shea. He has been dominant in two runs/wins this time, resuming with a spank job in a Goulburn maiden before proving that was no fluke at Kembla when an impressive winner from off the speed. Harder here, but he has earned a crack in town.

Danger

3 Oscar Zulu (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) is nearing a win. Three weeks between runs since his resumption against older horses where nothing went right for him and he clearly should have finished much closer behind Count De Rupee. He’ll come on from that and is hard to beat against these.

Long Shot

Like the look of 11 Key (Bet Now: $17.00 TOP ODDS) for the Matty Dale camp. Kiwi filly that made her Australian debut in the Denise’s Joy. Never really a threat given the race shape but her finale nearer the inside was very good I thought behind Ballistic Lover. Fitter and up to 1400m, she’ll take beating against these.

Race 5. (13:40) Acy Securities (bm78) 1200m

1 Snowzone (Bet Now: $7.50) looks to be in for a good prep. Resumed over 1100m at Rosehill three weeks ago. Got a fair way back in the run and was nearer the inside, which wasn’t the A1 ground, but still finished off with purpose. He showed when racing in Brisbane that 1300m is an ideal trip and he is a second up winner, so up to 1200m I like.

Danger

12 Rammstein (Bet Now: $3.30) is bursting to win another race for the Ryan/Alexiou camp. Attempted to lead throughout at this track/distance a fortnight back and looked home when asked for the big effort. Just got run down late by I Am Power. That form looks strong for this.

Long Shot

5 He’s A Hotshot (Bet Now: $9.50) is a son of Star Witness for Bjorn Baker that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since Feb 27 at Randwick when running last behind Liberty Sun, but was at the end of a long prep and looking for the paddock. Good fresh horse and trialled up super in readiness for his return.

Race 6. (14:20) The Agency Real Estate (bm78) 1500m

10 Air To Air (Bet Now: $7.50) has the engine under the hood to blow these away. Problem with her is the racing pattern. It is a horrible style she has got, but she has got a booming finale on her. This is the first time all prep she has been placed properly in a race and with the claim, I think she only runs well.

Danger

11 Zing (Bet Now: $4.20) looks to be in for a good prep. Resumed three weeks ago over 1400m here where she got back and closed off really nicely late in the piece behind Count De Rupee in what was an on pace dominated affair. Might need one more, but she does get a good set up here.

Long Shot

To me, this screams of a prep run for 12 Wairere Falls (Bet Now: $7.50) in readiness for a third up peak, so not sure I could back him to win here, but he is an absolute must for multiples. Resumed at this track/distance two weeks back and was a bit flat footed when asked to go, but picked up and thought his finale was more than sound. He’ll be strong late. Just depends what kind of start he gives.

Race 7. (15:00) Winter Cup 2400m

I’m still following 5 Costello (Bet Now: $15.00) because I do think he’s going well. Excellent return in the Hawkesbury Cup before going to the Lord Mayors two weeks ago. One paced when asked to extend but he stayed on and was sound. Gets to 2400m, which I do like, and he’s got more upside than most.

Danger

11 Stockman (Bet Now: $3.70) is flying without winning for Joe Pride. Ran last Saturday at Randwick where he lumped the big weight but he tried his guts out, just missing out on the win when second to No Compromise. He is in a similar boat to Parry Sound and IMO, I’d much rather entertain Stockman than Parry Sound.

Long Shot

The forecast for rain later in the week and on raceday is music to the ears of 3 Wu Gok (Bet Now: $17.00). Soft7 or worse, he is a bet pretty much every time so the weather is crucial. Led and stayed on well two back in the Gosford Cup. He then went to the Lord Mayors and the track was probably a touch too dry for him so be forgiving of that effort. Genuine wet track now, he’ll take beating.

Race 8. (15:40) Precise Air (bm94) 1800m

12 Mubariz (Bet Now: $4.80) is short enough but he does look the most progressive of this lot. Strong win from at this track/distance three weeks ago, sitting off the speed before Tommy eased him wider and he surged with purpose late to get up and win. Heading in the right direction and confident he can measure up.

Danger

I’ve been on the back of 2 Bottega (Bet Now: $5.50) his past couple and couldn’t back him to win with confidence but he does get to a trip where he has been effective at, winning as a three year old at this distance around this time last year, beating Welsh Legend. His Scone Cup run was solid and his best is clearly good enough.

Long Shot

14 Welsh Legend (Bet Now: $5.50) comes back to 1800m and is three weeks between runs since racing over 2000m here where they rode her warm from the outset and for mine, I just don’t think those tactics worked, tiring late behind stablemate Achiever. Back to 1800m. with a cold steer, she can bounce back.

Race 9. (16:20) Rosehill Bowling Club (bm78) 1200m

Back Me

12 Expat (Bet Now: $3.90) has her share of talent. Trialled up really well prior to her resumption in the Denise’s Joy and I thought her effort was more than a pass mark given she had to chase from the outset and was one of those in front chasing the tearaway leader and subsequent winner Ballistic Lover. Hard to to beat I think.

Danger

4 Starla (Bet Now: $9.00) might want further, but I think she’s in for a good prep. Resumed at this track/distance two weeks ago. Drew wide, so Tommy rode a negative race and it almost worked. Suck run on the fence and drove hard late. Just one soft trial leading into that, so she’s got improvement to come.

Long Shot

11 Sahra (Bet Now: $15.00) deserves another chance. She was kept pretty safe in betting when racing here a fortnight back but unfortunately for her fans, she was caught wide no cover for the trip and that hard run just told late as she tired. If that run hasn’t busted her, she can win this for sure.
