Murray Bridge is where SA metro racing heads to this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:22) In Mem. Of Caitlin Forrest Mdn 1200m
6 Intrepid Eagle (Bet Now: $3.20) gets the nod in the opener. Team McEvoy trained son of Alpine Eagle that is on debut off the back of a couple of Victorian jumpouts where he has looked to move quite nicely, winning the latest jumpout at Burrumbeet. Tricky draw, but I think he goes good, good enough to beat these.
4 Ice Symphony (Bet Now: $2.45) is a big improver for Team Jolly. He was specked at odds a fortnight back in the Eros race on the Parks track and his finale was very good despite never really being a winning threat. I think the rise to 1200m is ideal and if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be dangerous.
5 Independent George (Bet Now: $7.50) is a winning chance. Debuted here several weeks ago and just looked like he would need the run when down the track behind Heaven’s Wish. Tick over trial last week was a good piece of work and is in the right camp to improve out of sight.
Race 2. (12:57) Adelaide Event Catering (Bm72) 2500m
Write off a McEvoy horse at Murray Bridge at your peril. I’m certainly respecting 3 Zoffala (Bet Now: $3.30), who was an impressive winner here two back. He then went to Sandown and really struggled to pick his feet up on the very heavy track. Back on firmer footing and back to SA, he’ll be hard to beat.
2 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $3.90) is dangerous. Not sure the Parks track suited him last time so want to be forgiving of his down the track effort behind Perfect Illusion. This stable has had a fab 6-12 months and the recent form has been excellent, this horse included. Forgive last start and can bounce back.
9 Lutz (Bet Now: $17.00) has found positive form…can he hold it? He ran over 2200m at Balaklava at the midweeks last time and batled away really well in defeat when second to Dixie Whistler, one of the more form gallopers in SA at the moment. Think that form reads okay for this.
Race 3. (13:32) Spry Civil Construction-Bm82 1000m
8 Quietly Discreet (Bet Now: $2.15) looks to have come back in dynamic order. First run for the new stable came on the Parks track two weeks ago where she was smashed in betting and duly saluted, bolting up from off the speed in an impressive return. If she can build off that, she’ll take beating once again up in grade.
1 Star Hills (Bet Now: $6.50) can bounce back. Forgiving of his run three weeks ago on the Parks track when wide no cover throughout on a day where on speed/fence was the spot to be. He bounced back to positive form prior to that forgive run, including a narrow second here to Calypso Reign, so he commands respect.
4 Aadelad (Bet Now: $8.50) has come back in super order for the Francis/Kent camp. Surprised some with a strong win fresh at Murray Bridge before going to the Parks track where he tried hard but couldn’t quite reel in Spanish Heirloom, who dominated from the front and gave nothing else a look in. Truly run 1000m, he’ll be strong at the end.
Race 4. (14:07) Northpoint Murraylands (Bm68) 1600m
8 Alpine Flyer (Bet Now: $4.80) is a promising filly for Jim Smith that can win again. 2/2 this time in, winning fresh at Murray Bridge in a weak 58 against the Mares before going to Gawler a few weeks ago, sitting off a genuine speed before angling into clear air and she produced good change up speed to win impressively. No reason to see why she can’t win again.
3 Bolt By (Bet Now: $3.60) is a handy galloper for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp that was given a peach by Stubby to win a few weeks back on the Parks track he was 1800m back to 1550m and in a sit/sprint, he lapped it up and gave them a spanking. Bigger track and extra 50m, he appeals.
2 France’s Boy (Bet Now: $21.00) will land on the bunny and give a sight. He did that two weeks back behind Cashin’ Chex and he battled away pretty well in defeat when fourth. Think he’s better suited at Murray Bridge and if he can a cheap time of it on speed, he’s good enough to threaten.
Race 5. (14:47) Marshall & Brougham (Bm76) 1400m
Keen to butter up with 4 Oh Mo (Bet Now: $5.50). Bless him for his win three weeks ago on the Parks track. Lovely ride from Vorster, getting the suck run behind the speed before angling clear and charging late to nail them near the peg. He’s come back in super order and I think getting to 1400m on his home track, he’s clearly the one to beat.
8 Unlaced (Bet Now: $7.00) will jump on the bunny and give a good sight for her backers. That was the case at Gawler a few weeks back and she did try hard but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to impressive winner Cashin’ Chex. On speed, I think she’ll take beating and give them something to chase.
3 Master Chum (Bet Now: $34.00) should be suited up in trip. Both runs this time in have come over 1200m, a trip clearly short of his best. He caught the eye fresh but two weeks back there looked to be second up syndrome and he failed to fire. Has class and has good upside to come.
Race 6. (15:27) Fred Vella Tyre Repairs (Bm60) 1800m
4 Rapid Raiser (Bet Now: $3.60) looks really well placed against this lot for Jake Stephens. Game third at Gawler two back behind Perfect Illusion before going to Mildura where he was near the speed throughout and battled away really well when second to Petruchio, just getting nailed late. Brings that form here, he’ll take beating.
6 Take Me North (Bet Now: $7.50) is suited up to the mile on the big track. Complete forgive two back at Murray Bridge in what was essentially a barrier trial behind So Say Angel. He then went to the Parks track and stuck to the task quite well when third to Bolt By. Dangerous if he can get a soft trip.
9 Neva Doubt Us (Bet Now: $19.00) is one I could entertain for wider multiples. He ran last week over 1800m at Murray Bridge where he got a mile out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off when third to Lomax. If he can settle closer in the run, or get a drag into the race, he’ll be dangerous.
Race 7. (16:07) Jockey Celebration Day (Bm68) 1000m
Market will be fascinating with 3 Taunting (Bet Now: $3.40), who resumes for Michael Hickmott. He’s had a fair time off, with his last run being September 25 when a tiring fifth at Sandown behind Sandy Prince. He was on trial for the Caulfield Guineas but after that run, he was spelled. Jumped out well enough to my eye and is trained on the track, so watch the market and see how he parades.
11 Glacius (Bet Now: $8.00) looks a talented animal for Will Clarken, who debuted at the midweeks at Gawler. Not sure he beat a great deal, but he was on speed throughout before being clicked up and away he went for a dominant win. Good test here, but think he can measure up.
9 Somewatt Fabulous (Bet Now: $9.00) is a fascinating runner. Team Jolly trained filly that resumes, having not raced since the Carnival when outclassed and down the track in the Nitschke behind Illation, a Group l winner in waiting it would seem. Given the break and her recent trial win suggests she’s ready to rock and roll. Watch the market.
Race 8. (16:42) Carlton Draught Hcp (62) 1400m
16 Headphones (Bet Now: $17.00) saves her best for the home track here at Murray Bridge so returning here, she’s the way I’m leaning towards. Ran two weeks ago on the Parks track and did a really good job from off the speed when third to an in form Tupoleu. Back on her home track, she’ll sit back and launch late.
4 Run And Tell (Bet Now: $6.50) is knocking on the door to win one. Looked like it would a fortnight back on the Parks track but he was nabbed late near the peg by Tupoleu. He has a good racing style and if he can get control in front, he’ll give his rivals something to chase.
11 Crowned Monarch (Bet Now: $5.50) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. She ran in the Tupoleu race from two weeks back where she was just off the speed in the run and lacked the dash in the legs to go on with the job. Has good form around her so not dismissing her chances.
Race 9. (17:20) In Mem. Of S Montgomerie-Bm60 1200m
9 Rose Tycoon (Bet Now: $3.00) is on top in the get out. Team McEvoy trained mare that has done her racing in Victoria, the latest run at Bendigo when back in the run and closing off strongly when second to Heywood. Back to 1200m I hate, but I love the Blinkers going on, as well as a drop in depth. She’ll do me.
2 Fox Gem (Bet Now: $5.50) is a big baby it seems like but he does have a decent engine under the hood. Was keen on him last Wednesday at Balaklava at $3, but come jump time, he was heading towards $4 given he was a backmarker and the pattern was suiting fence/on speed. But, despite doing a bit wrong, he rounded them up and spanked them in an arrogant win. Hard to beat against these.
13 Fields Of Athenry (Bet Now: $16.00) is one I could entertain for wider multiples. She ran last Wednesday at Balaklava where she was wide with cover and tried to come on but just whacked away, with the bias being against her. Should get three/four wide cover and be strong late.
