Pinker Pinker Plate π: View the Field and Odds for the Pinker Pinker Plate
Race 1. (17:40) Afc-Peter & Lavella Darose Mdn 1300m
11 Veloce Carro (Bet Now:Β $2.35) looks the one they have to beat. I thought he was very good fresh at Ballarat on the Synthetic. Wide no cover for the trip and back, but closed off well enough when second to Redzoust, who has won again since. Hopefully they roll forward from the wide gate and prove hard to beat.
The rise to 1300m should suit 9 Sutadamu (Bet Now:Β $3.10). He was kept quite safe in betting when resuming on the Pakenham Synthetic. To the eye, he seemed to have every chance but he just looked like a horse that wants more ground. He gets that here and finds a very winnable maiden.
5 Abrupt (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an interesting runner. He resumes as a gelding for Team Corstens after debuting in a Group lll during the Adelaide Carnival in the Autumn when tailed off last. He has been given a good break, gelded and his jumpout work has been encouraging so watch the market.
Race 2. (18:15) Btm Electrical Mdn Plate 2025m
I think 8 Flame Of Venice (Bet Now:Β $2.10) should be a clear favourite and is one of the better bets on the card. She resumed over the mile at Moe and on paper, it was just a run, but she was out wide on the track and early that meeting, the fence was red hot, so she actually did a good job to get as close as she did. Gate one, can settle near the speed and with a rise to 2000m, I think she’s clearly the one to beat.
11 Blazing Burj (Bet Now:Β $2.10) is the main threat. He debuted over 1700m at Geelong where he got a fair way back in the run but loved the way he closed his race off late in the piece when second. Gets a significant jockey upgrade, gets a rise in distance and has more upside than most.
1 Aerospace (Bet Now:Β $8.50) comes back to 2000m and I think is an improver. He was on speed over 2400m at Bendigo last time on a bottomless deck and that wet track, positive ride, I just think it was the wrong set up. Back to 2000m with a patient steer, he can run a much improved race.
Race 3. (18:45) Frankston Sand Soil & Mini Mix 1200m
6 Grande Marengo (Bet Now:Β $4.80) on top but not a race I want to get involved. He resumes for Luke Oliver, having not raced since April 29 when third in a similar race to this over the mile behind Peppino. 1200m is on the short side for him but he has te quality factor to be hard to beat.
2 Ellanova (Bet Now:Β $3.70) is one of the better picnic galopers going around and is a short course specialist, with all six career wins being at sprint trips. She is not a noted fresh horse and does get better as the prep goes on but fresh in a race like this, you’d assume she’ll be ready to go.
Fitter and up 1200m are two big ticks for 7 Fleet Dreams (Bet Now:Β $18.00). He resumed over 1000m at Casterton just over a month ago in what was a prep run for this and he actually wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Magna Carta. Tricky draw to overcome but his best is good enough to be dangerous.
Race 4. (19:15) Bj Electrics Mdn Plate 1000m
12 Tropicconi (Bet Now:Β $1.65) is the only threat I could find. Matt Laurie trained filly that is on debut and her trial/jumpout work has been impressive, enough to say she would likely win her debut. Problem is she bumps into a Stakes class horse. But, with the map in her corner, she can threaten to an extent.
14 The Big Freeze (Bet Now:Β $3.60) is a Peter Moody trained Pride Of Dubai gelding that resumes and commands some level of respect. He had two runs at Pakenham to start his career in the early part of the Winter, the debut on the turf and then the synthetic. Spelled, jumped out well, he’s a threat for sure.
11 Shrimp (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one for wider multiples I think. Godolphin filly that was specked at odds when debuting at Echuca back in April and didn’t really fire a shot when down the track behind No Lockdown. Jumped out well enough leading in and for a Godolphin horse in a maiden, she’s a big price.
Race 5. (19:45) Procon Developments Mdn Plate 1600m
5 Sociabeel (Bet Now:Β $1.25) is on top. Busuttin/Young filly that has been solid throughout this prep, but just keeps finding one or two better on the day, the latest run at Geelong when third to Mornington Mask. I reckon with a bunny to chase, on a firmer deck, she can run a much improved race.
10 Is Sweet (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one for wider exotics. She has had two career outings, finishing down the track on debut at Geelong before going to Coleraine where she ran a much improved race when fourth. Doubt she wins, but is an improver and can pinch a first four spot.
1 Di Di Mau (Bet Now:Β $7.00) is third pick for me in the race, but a fair way back from the first two. He resumed over 1100m on the Pakenham Synthetic and wasn’t too bad from off the speed, beaten around 3.5L. Like that he rises to the mile and can fill a first four spot in a relatively thin race.
Race 6. (20:15) Stables Plus (Bm70) 1600m
I think 1 Agnelli (Bet Now:Β $6.50) is worth an each way ticket. Chris Waller trained gelding that resumed over 1400m at Flemington on a bottomless deck and he just looked like he needed the run behind Cardinal Gem, and did lose two plates in the run, so there were clear excuses. Much better set up this time around and although he might want another run, he has the runs on the board to prove hard to beat.
6 Thought Provoking (Bet Now:Β $3.40) is a key threat. She resumed in the Cardinal Gem race mentioned above where she was on speed throughout and gave a solid kick but just felt the pinch late to finish fourth. She’ll take good improvement from that and Jordan Childs does get on really well with her.
7 Jenkins (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a hard horse to catch but once he finds winning form, he ususally holds that form. Last start saw him win on the Synthetic at Pakenham and he was impressive the way he kept finding under pressure late to fend them off. Harder here, but commands respect.
Race 7. (20:45) Pinker Pinker Plate 2025m
1 Nerve Not Verve (Bet Now:Β $2.20) looks the one to beat. She ran in the JRA Cup at The Valley last time and yes, had the pattern in her corner, but she still ran a very credible race second up when second to Desert Icon. Back to Mares grade, Jamie Kah sticks, I think she has the class factor to win.
5 Unique Artist (Bet Now:Β $3.60) is flying for Phillip Stokes and the key has been getting to 2000m+. Strong winner over 2200m two back on the Synthetic at Pakenham before proving that was no fluke with a game win in testing conditions over 2000m at Caulfield. Has to be respected despite a class/depth rise.
6 Miss Gobcain (Bet Now:Β $6.50) could have kept running well in those 2500m races in SA but I like that the stable have kept her on ice to be saved for this race on her home deck. I reckon 2400m+ sees her right out and she’s much better suited at 2000m. I doubt she wins, but she’s a must for multiples.
Race 8. (21:15) Melbourne Cup Carnival (Bm64) 1400m
I think you have to take a chance with 6 Vegas Knight (Bet Now:Β $6.00). He is having his first run for Nick Ryan and we know this stable are fast becoming one of the best at improving a tried horse. His form went right off the boil when last in work but at his best, he’s a Saturday class horse, and his jumpout work suggests he’s ready to go. If he’s right, and fit, I think he’s the one to beat.
10 Toregene (Bet Now:Β $3.30) is a promising animal for Matty Williams that resumes. He won 2/3 in his opening, winning at both the Warrnambool and Swan Hill Carnivals with a down the track Flemington run in between. His jumpout work suggests he’s ready to go for this first up assignment and have to respect the stable when they are on the road away from home.
5 No Surrender (Bet Now:Β $7.50) is on the seven day back up for Jack Laing after racing last Friday night at The Valley. He was near the speed throughout outside Outback Action and tried hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to that promising horse. Like him up in trip, lands near the front and will run well.
Race 9. (21:45) Ladbrokes (Bm64) 1000m
The jumpout perverts are all over 9 Mir (Bet Now:Β $2.15). Rightfully so as well because this former Hong Kong galloper has gone like a jet in a couple of jumpouts to get ready for his first run for Nick Ryan. Notice there is a sole owner in Clint Hutchinson and he’s had good success with these former Hong Kong gallopers, especially with Nick Ryan. Money talks and it’s suggesting this horse is here to rock and roll.
10 Lempicka (Bet Now:Β $4.40) has home track advantage and has solid form around her to command respect. She resumes, having not raced since June 25 at Caulfield when going around like a barrier trial, badly held up in the straight when down the track behind Inundation. Looked sharp in a recent jumpout win and should get a sweet trip from the gate. Leading chance.
4 Kalashani Lad (Bet Now:Β $26.00) is a winner at the track and would love it to have some form of cushion in it. He hasn’t raced for a few weeks since a down the track effort at Sandown behind All England on firm ground, something he hates in his latter years. Should get some give in the ground and at big odds, he can be included in wider multiples.
