Nine races will be run and won at Ascot on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out twelve metres for the entire circuit.
Eurythmic Stakes 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Eurythmic Stakes
Race 1. (14:14) Tabtouch-Wspeed Platinum-Rs0ly 1000m
Think with a more positive steer, 1 Scandolo (Bet Now: $8.00) is the pony to bet on. I’d be forgiving of his run last Saturday here. They rode him negatively and he just couldn’t get involved in the race behind Cross Statement. Reckon if he can sit on speed, which the map says he can comfortably, he’ll take beating.
2 Snipillicious (Bet Now: $4.00) looks suited back to the short course. Strong track/distance winner first up before going to 1200m and gee she was plain after seemingly getting every chance. Just think six furlongs at this level found her out. Back to 1000m, gate one, she’s the key threat.
5 Safety Bay (Bet Now: $5.50) is a daughter of Safeguard for Fred Kersley that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since December 15 when contesting the Epona Classic and she gave a good kick from the front, but felt the pinch late. Suited at this level…resumes without a trial, but watch the market.
Race 2. (14:49) Crown Perth (Bm62+) 1000m
I’ll take a chance on 3 Tadweer (Bet Now: $5.50) first up. Formerly with Team Hayes, he’s now under the care of Team Gangemi. Had three runs for the former camp in Victoria, the latest being on Cup Day at Flemington when down the track behind Profiteer. Liked his trial at Belmont last week…if the market is trending towards him, bet with confidence he’s ready to go.
6 Lexington City (Bet Now: $2.45) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. Three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when leading and giving an almighty kick but jsut found one better in Sneaky Chance, who went within a lip of winning last Saturday, so the form reads well and he’ll give a bold sight.
4 Magic To Exceed (Bet Now: $6.50) is a son of Exceed And Excel for Team Casey that resumes and returns to racing as a gelding. He hasn’t raced since December 30 at Belmont when pulling up slow to recover when fourth to Solid Azza. Resumes without a trial, but market will be interesting to see if he’s ready to go.
Race 3. (15:20) Belhus Racing Stables Plate 1100m
4 Tiffany Street (Bet Now: $2.00) might well be above average. Dan Morton trained filly that debuted here on Anzac Day and there was a bit of class about the way she put her away her rivals, dashing clear late after sitting on speed. Drawn tricky, but should slide forward and I think she’ll make it 2/2.
2 Lord Gannicus (Bet Now: $4.80) is a key threat. He’s having start one and he looks a handy colt for Grant Williams. Had a couple of trials in February and looked solid there. Given a break, trialled at Belmont over three weeks ago and moved quite well in winning over 1000m. Finds a winnable race for the debut, he’s in the mix.
5 Miss Drakova (Bet Now: $6.50) is in the mix with luck from the draw. Resumed over 1000m here two weeks back where she didn’t quie get the rub of the green. Whether she was going to win, not sure, but clearly should have finished clear. If she gets luck from the gate, she’s in the mix.
Race 4. (16:00) Tabtouch-Better Your Bet-Bm66+ 1400m
5 Sniparoochy (Bet Now: $1.70) was good to me last Saturday and happy to butter up once again. Sat on speed over 1200m here last Saturday and really, just a matter of Warwick pushing the button and once she did, away she went and she was dominant. Off that, extra 200m is no issue nd this is a thin race.
6 Stella Fair (Bet Now: $6.00) comes back to town for Adam Durrant in winning form after a strong win at the Provincials at Geraldton, aided by a lovely ride from Warwick, who had the suck run in transit and was able to finish best in a driving go. Harder here, but gate one and small field helps.
7 Wakan Tanka (Bet Now: $8.00) is a ripper for Neville Parnham that will try hard. Got conditions to suit when winning here last time out and was strong late when challenged to fend them off. Right down in the weights after the claim, good racing style and will give a sight.
Race 5. (16:40) Amelia Park (Bm72+) 1100m
If 4 It’sarayday (Bet Now: $1.65) is ready to go, class gets him home. Qualty three year old for Simon Miller that resumes, having not raced since the WA Guineas when a game fourth, just not running the mile out. It seems 1200m-1400m is his sweet spot and has trialled up super in readiness.
2 Liwa (Bet Now: $5.00) is a very interesting runner. Classy filly that resumed here three weeks ago where she looked a good thing on paper to my eye but gee she did absolutely zero, getting too keen on speed and dropping out. Tick over trial was good and at her best, she’ll give this a shake.
1 Reflectivity (Bet Now: $19.00) comes back to 1100m after racing over 1200m here two weeks back. He was near the speed throughout and had his chance but battled away and was good in defeat behind a solid one, How’s The Serenity. Claim, back to 1100m, soft trip, he’s in with a shout.
Race 6. (17:15) City Of Bel. Family Day-Rs1mw 1200m
4 First Law (Bet Now: $6.00) looks wound up for a first up assault for Team Gangemi. He resumes, having not raced since August 14 at Belmont when wide no cover in the run and tiring late behind Strathmore Rose. He’s a horse who races well on the fresh side and his trials leading in have been sharp.
3 Warm N Fuzzy (Bet Now: $5.00) has come back a different/better horse it seems like. 2/2 this time in, the latest being last Saturday. Led throughout under Chris Parnham and was there to be beaten but found under pressure, fended them off and was too good. Harder here, but gets in well after the claim and is very genuine.
7 Don’s Legacy (Bet Now: $71.00) can be an improver. Resumed here three weeks back where he got back off the speed and seemed to get the right run in transit but couldn’t finish it off and was quite plain late behind Mood Swings. Back a bit in overall depth and gets Paul Harvey to steer.
Race 7. (17:45) Eurythmic Stakes 2200m
9 Tena Koutou (Bet Now: $3.60) the one to beat. Progressive stayer for Adam Durrant that comes here off the back of an Albany Cup triumph where he was given a peach by CJP, saving ground between runners before slicing his way through the field to get clear air and in a driving go, finished best. In the right camp to keep progressing.
2 Sentimental Queen (Bet Now: $3.00) has the runs on the board and the class to give this a shake. Ran in the Diggers Cup here on Anzac Day where she had the A1 run in transit, landing box seat before angling one off on the turn and it was a case of times and margins in a dominant display. Proven at the trip, she’ll take beating.
7 Morton’s Fork (Bet Now: $13.00) isn’t far off a win the veteran. I was on him at big odds in the Albany Cup and I think had he slot in to get cover, he goes close to winning instead of a game fourth after sitting wide no cover for the trip in a massive effort. A win here wouldn’t shock at all.
Race 8. (18:15) Bel. City Of Opportunity-Rs1mw 2200m
5 Aragain (Bet Now: $5.50) looks ready to rock and roll. Ran over 1800m here two weeks ago when second up and looked the winner when presented by Holly Watson, but just had no answers for the finale produced by Piccola Signora. Hard fit up to 2100m with Chris Parnham aboard, she’ll do me.
1 Blackwater Bay (Bet Now: $6.00) is racing in a purple patch for Adam Durrant. The confidence is up with this guy after wins at Mount Barker and Geraldton. He hasn’t beaten much in those two wins, but each time has been strong from off the speed. Gets back to Saturday metro grade, but finds a winnable race I feel.
11 Frequent Friar (Bet Now: $8.50) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. He did that at Pinjarra last start and looked home, but was nabbed late by an in form Mystical Babe. Harder here, so doubt he wins, but with his racing style, he could pinch a first four spot at odds.
Race 9. (18:52) Drummond Golf (Bm72+) 1600m
1 Majinika (Bet Now: $7.00) for me in the get out. Ran over 1800m here last Saturday and I thought his run was full of merit. He kept chasing off a slow speed and was good in defeat I thought behind Baramagic. Hopefully the inside gate can be used and the tempo won’t be as crawling this time around you would assume.
2 Downforce (Bet Now: $4.60) should be suited back to the mile. He too ran in the race mentioned above from last Saturday. Race shape was against and be forgiving of him not catching Baramagic. Chris Parnham takes over now and on pripr form, he’s hard to beat here big time.
9 Special View (Bet Now: $4.80) is right down in the weights and will be looking to repeat what Baramagic did last Saturday, which is lead, get control, kick on the turn and break their hearts. Lacks the class of some of these, but down to 52kg and on speed, he’ll give a really good sight.
